    This was expected. Tancredo was a single issue candidate and most people of this good country are sensible. They see him for what he is. Economic hardships combined with lots of false information can easily bias even the most well meaning citizen.

    He did manage to bring illegal immigration topic to prominence and promoted general hatred towards immigrants. Personally I am happy he is out and I hope this country will be spared from any further "public service" from this abominable politician.

    I think the only way you can know about it is by looking at Receipt notice you will get in mail. I believe every individual/case has a unique number.

    Alien registration number is found either on I-140 receipt/approval on top of beneficiary's name. If you're not sure, just leave it blank or put N/A. This is different from I-94 number.

    concur it is the I-140 A# number if you have the approved I-140, otherwise check with your employer if they have the I-140, or leave it blank if your I-140 is approved.

    You can use EAD with current employer. I think your company has to do the change your I9 form to EAD. You don't need to inform as you are not changing any company.
    Hi

    My H1 is valid until 2010 Feb.
    I am also having EAD till 2011 June.
    I have been with my employer all along.... and prefer to stay with same employer till GC.

    I DONT want to apply for my H1 extension since they are asking lot of questions like Contract details etc with RFE's.

    My Q is - Can i use EAD with my EXISTING employer or EAD should be used for only NEW employer based on AC21?

    If i use EAD with my current employer, should i have to inform uscis(any process involved)?

    Please suggest...

    It's been a while and I don't remember, what I signed - those were the times of innocence, if you could say that :). The physical copy should represent itself in no time once it is approved. I presume that is how the lawyer comes to know about it.

    I have a original copy whereas the lawyer has the approved I140.

    Should I ask for the original or is that copy good enough?

    This is taken from the 495 instructions:
    Evidence of eligibility.
    Based on an immigrant petition.
    Attach a copy of the approval notice for an immigrant petition that makes a visa number immediately available to you, or submit a complete relative,special immigrant juvenile, or special immigrant military petition which, if approved, will make a visa number immediately available to you.

    You do not need the original at all. It is property of the employer.

    Hi, I have question about my case.

    My family was applied I-485 by my mom's working at the company, and all my family had EAD which is working permit and received SSN with that EAD.

    However, 2008 January our I-485 have got denied because of sponsor got closed.
    That was the before our EAD card gets expired. So I couldn't renew the EAD card.

    So My question is, is there any way to renew that EAD now?
    if I still want to work, what does I have to do?

    Unfortunately , it is true. I personally know a friend whose I-485 was denied even without issuing any NOID or RFE. Reason, well its very obvious, the underlying I-140 was revoked, even though it was past 180 days. By law, your supposed to get NOID or RFE. but some IOs are ignorant and do not know the AC21 laws properly. So they issue straight denial. The number of cases are few because not many companies revoke I-140 past 180 days. But few companies do and some have to do it. So in these situation yes, chances are that you will get a straight denial and that is why there is thread to lobby efforts to raise some concerns to Ombudsman about these erroneous denials.

    It would be not hard to make an IV facebook application that contains
    - an install page,
    - a page where our core issues can be listed and members can express support for each issue
    - a page where running issues can be listed and members can sign petitions online (see capital fraternal caucus app as they push their greek related issues via Patton Boggs in Washington)
    - and optionally a facebook bolstered discussion board.

    The newsfeed feature/invite friends should help viral spread of the app.




    A member suggested that it maybe a good idea to have IV presence on facebook. This will help increase our publicity among our friends whom we can recommend to join. Our aim is to get as much publicity and membership at this time so that we can succeed in our upcoming campaigns.

    We have a group called 'Immigration Voice' on Facebook now started by IV core.

    Could you now help us increase the publicity of IV on facebook among your friends so that we get more participation on IV site

    Every agent tells a new thing. But the fact remains that I-140 needs to be approved before 485 is adjudicated.

    Also you are not current yet...you will be (if things don't change in between) on Sept 1.

    I don't know what final stage mean...I have been told the same thing by my congressman rep a year and half back.....doesn't mean anything...

    This appears to be more relavant given the need for rejuvenating the state chapters. Why not we have this as simple links on the main page itself and make it damn easy to join the chapter. The most important thing to do is to have the members join the chapters and have the contact numbers. Once these are there the IV state chapters could follow up and get the activities rolling with these members.

    Bottom line: Have the state chapter joining links on the main page and have it simplified for the members to join very easily ( kind of taking the name, contact number and email and nothing more) later the chapter core could get in touch with them and get the complete profile. A kind of marketing gimmick.

    I got my checks encashed to day and when I looked at the status of my I-485 application online it says

    Can any one please explain what it means... Is this something related to 485 at all?... is it that I had figured the Receipt numbers wrongly(This particualar receipt number was tough to determine from the back of the check)..
