I'm sorry Dave, I cannot authorize the purchase of those cookies because the cholesterol content is in direct conflict with the Crestor you have been prescribed - by the way -

did you know that (insert any paid advertiser here) CVS Pharmacy can save you money by switching you to an approved generic?

The fat content also concerns me because the last pair of pants you bought was one inch greater in the waist than your previous purchase.

May i recommend the (insert any paid promotional product here) Cheerios.

Why would Apple do what has failed all other manufactures during the time Apple's one model mantra have eaten sales from other manufactures?

every time a rumor comes up regarding "the" iPhone I will vote negative for it. i just can't hear it anymore.

If they release one, good, but please stop the rumors.

heheh - you forgot the 'memron' laptops next tuesday rumors

seriously though, is there any need for nanos or ipods if these new candybar/smartpda iphones come out? I mean what's the advantage of having two devices (phone & ipod) when you can just have the one - most likely cheaper - so is this the death of the ipod?

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I want to buy this!!!! But alas I cannot afford it at present, well it depends on if I get a 3DS next weekend or not. But having used the demo of Outlook I love it, much better then Mail IMO.

If anyone knows of a cheaper price then around 160 in the UK let me know cause that's the best I've found.

I got the 3.1 update yesterday, and I was getting push notifications with badges and alerts but not sound or vibration. I am positive that my silent/ringer switch was set to allow sound.

This morning I got the new 3.1.1 update. Immediately, I noticed that I started getting sound alerts and vibration in addition to the badges and alerts. Yay!

It's funny how the capitalists are all for a free market...until it starts working against them.
DING DING DING we have a winner.

Yeah, downloads 'might' be less expensive to sell, because you have no B&M store, no packaging, no shipping, etc etc. But downloads have their costs too: servers (lots of them), bandwidth (lots of it), etc etc. Totally different delivery mechanisms, but doesn't automatically mean that one is cheaper than the other to 'deliver'.

Target and Wal-Mart and other big box stores occasionally fight small communities for the free market 'right' to open a store. But they bitch and moan when someone new sells a similar product in a new and innovative way.

Should work both ways, guys - an equal market is an equal market. Unless you want competitors to be less 'equal' than you. (not very eloquent, but you get the drift).

There is a brand new Target open just a couple miles from me... that I haven't been tempted yet to step foot into. Target's stance on this issue seals the deal... I won't be venturing into that shiny brand new store.

I'd welcome your examination of the PP that backs your assertion.
It is so much easier to abort than to raise a child.
No, the point of PP is to give the tools and education to prevent pregnancy and disease. Abortion is a service offerred when there is an unwanted pregnancy.

My friend, there is nothing easy about abortion.

Are you suggesting it is harder to abort than to raise a child?

MS chose not to support calDEV, so no support for google calendars :(

MS Office is BUSINESS software, and Google calendars is not necessarily what I would call a widely accepted and adopted business solution. What the typical Office customer wants is Sharepoint and Exchange Server integration.

(Project and Visio ports would also be more than welcome. OmniGraffle Pro is nice, but most hardcore Visio users either don't find it suitable or just are not comfortable with its different user interface.)

I don't care to argue about the effectiveness of the adds. But I will say that the Angel/Devil one was kinda stupid. It didn't even advertise Macs. I think I am tiring of the format of the commercials. I would like to see one show just what can be done with OS X.

In regards to the original question: I'm buying one as soon as it gets Sandy Bridge (as long as the 11" gets at least the 2537M and not the Celeron ULV that intel also makes).

Backlit keyboard would also be super but it's not a dealbreaker for me. I'll only use it for programming, communication and business apps so I don't care what GPU it has, but I could use the extra CPU power for VMWare. I also want it more futureproofed than the current model, I tend to hang on to my stuff for a long time (check my sig ;) )

Built-in 3G would also be an option that I would pay a lot of money for if it were offered.

The Conservatives are for some privatization, or as they call it "alternative delivery", but I doubt the population will allow them to completely privatize healthcare. Normally I'm for a smaller government, but when it comes to healthcare you can only either trust the corporations who make lots of money off of you when you're sick, or you can trust the government. In this case I trust the government a lot more.

Don't ever underestimate conservatives. Sorry for exporting our stupidity Canada. Hopefully, you guys figure this out fast and don't lose too much of what you have built.

In response to all the "Recommend Me a Camera/Lens/Editor etc" threads, I offer this. Comments or additions?

Never Show Your Work To Anyone

Read Only "Expert Photographer" Blogs, Articles, and Books

    Leave Your Camera On Auto......

Buy A New and More Expensive Camera Because It'll Make Better Pictures

Spend Too Much Time Mastering Photoshop

Mine is this: Fixate on one style of photography or subject.

    Original stolen from PIXIQ... (http://www.pixiq.com/article/how-to-work-hard-at-photography-and-still-suck)

    Dale

Oh my. I feel like I posted this myself. I would add one more to the list:

Get disgusted after spending a boatload of money on a DSLR setup and then spend another boatload of money on a rangefinder setup. Obviously the DSLR system didn't work for you, so the problem must still be a gear issue-- but in this case it's because you chose the wrong system. Time to start all over again, but this time with an artistically "proven" format.

Too funny. Always easy to point the accusatory finger for bad images everywhere except where it really belongs--at the photographer. Certain images can really require specific gear (including lighting gear), but often a bad image isn't about the gear but about the choices made by the photographer at the time of capture.

I somehow agree, at least as long as those others have nothing to show that they did that you clearly find impressive. The comments of others rarely help you improve your own work.

That certainly is better than reading Macrumors or other non-photographer blogs when photography is what you're interested in.

Actually, you should buy a camera that does not even have an "auto" switch. I strongly recommend something like an old (analog!) Pentax K-1000 as the first camera. There was a time when photography schools did not accept cameras with automatic features. With K-1000, you have to do EVERYTHING manually - and that is the best way to actually learn how to take photos.

Better gear does not make anyone a better photographer. HOWEVER, it can drastically improve the TECHNICAL aspects/results. If you want to make large posters of your pictures, then there are natural limits to what you can do with, let's say, a 6 MP camera.

Photoshop is a tool for graphics designers and the print business. For almost all photography needs, Aperture or Lightroom provide as much features as one will probably ever need. But none of those digital toys make you a better photographer.

I agree. And you probably shouldn't start with taking photos of models/people -- it's demanding and can easily become frustrating. Try mastering your camera and training your eye(!) first. Get a feel for what a photo will look like before you even begin processing/developing it. There's usually a big difference between what you see and what your camera sees; try to get your tool in sync with your eye and imagination. It requires a lot of practice, so shoot a lot. The beauty of digital photography is that you can shoot as much as like without depleting your bank account - analog photography was more expensive to learn.

I think this is the first time I have ever agreed with you Winni. What's more it is the first constructive post I have seen from you on this site. Most of your posts seem to fall into the curmudgeon category. This one is actually positive, helpful, and full of "win" :) I'd love to see more posts like this from you....

I doubt very much Macbook is getting updates at the same time Pro Models do. Thats not how Apple operates. First the pro models will be updated then that tech will show up months later in Macbook with some crippling like in Gpu.

Exactly! That's why the iMacs didn't get the Intel procssors until 7 months after the Mac Pros, right?
