Why is everyone ragging on Facebook for this?
It's not as if they invented it.
Foursquare, Loopt and Gowalla have had these types of apps for many many months.

because it's turned on by default. it should be off by default (IMO) and then turned on as an option. many people aren't aware that Facebook's new "features" are almost always on when rolled out.

But yeah, why do people freak out about this? I usually see people updating their status with "i'm at the mall, movies etc?". I guess they have to panic now and go back and check in their homes to make sure no one is trying to break into their homes.

2. the xoom is an excellent device. those stating they think that having a dedicated tablet OS is silly is kidding themselves. How can you consider yourself a "power user" and be tripped up by honeycomb? Seriously, can you only operate touch screens' with grids? I would would submit facebook has a tougher learning curve than honeycomb, but stop with the comments already, 2.2/2.3/3.0 are very well done OS's
Ever since Android was released on phones I have been hearing that it "is just a release or two away from being a great OS". The reality is that most Android devices are extremely lucky if they get one upgrade ported to them by their carrier. I'll stick with an iPad2 rather than buying something and hoping that it improves with time.

There's something online that says a month of Gold for $1, but I don't want to have to auto-renew after that not knowing the price.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think in order to get the $1 deal, you have to be renewing your membership, not starting it. I don't remember exactly, but a friend of mine tried doing this a while back, and it didn't work. I just stick with the subscription cards for both Live and for MS Points.
I have seen a 12-month card at Amazon for $35. They need an idiot's guide to this...
Yea, if you look around, you can usually find the 12-month cards for under $40. As you found, Amazon is always a good place to start.
Halo 3 so far is a little confusing because I have never used an Xbox controller and it's been years since I played a game like this.
If you end up getting Xbox Live Gold, let me know if you want a co-op partner for some Halo. I'm always game for some Halo, and have played it a ton, so I can help you figure things out if you need. My gamertag is the same as my username here.

Awesome, I love it! I want to sign up for .Mac so bad, but I can't justify it being worth $99 per year. I would gladly pay $49 per year, especially since I would use iWeb, Photocasting, and all the other good stuff.

It probably makes a lot of sense for Pioneer to pay the $4, as it gives them a USP. "One of the few (only?) receivers to which an iPhone/iPad can stream".
If it becomes more widely licensed, it's no longer a USP. It's probably not worth $4 any more, and competing standards will become more common.

I don't think Pages is horrible. It's not great, but it isn't quite as bad for me as everyone else finds it. I don't use it all that much (Keynote gets used far more than Pages does).

Some other areas are not of interest to Apple.
Developmental cycles many times have gaps.
One company is launching something in April, the other in October.
When October stuff comes out it will fall behind in development once April from another manufacturer launches, then they take turns trying to outdo each other.
As long as they all work on their stuff , it's all good for the consumers.

When scrounging through old files on my mac, i stumbled across this strange movie. it is an advertisement for internship at apple, which i downloaded sometime last year.
Anyway, within this 1.21 min video, there is a few seconds which really stood out. it appears to show the mac os on login, with all the icons and windows falling into place. surely this has something to do with the testing, or development of quartz extreme!
ive placed a small movie showing exactly what im talking about on my mac.com home page

So, if it is thought that an ethnic minority would actually do a job worse, because of other people's discrimination, then ethnicity technically would make a difference to their ability to do a job.
Would this be grounds for not employing them?
