The objective here is to add members; to acheive that we need get to the places where they go.
1. regularly visited websites
I am not saying we should advertise in Indian sites only. I am saying advertise in the sites where immigration applicants visit regularly.
Grocery stores & company HR sites are obviously other means to get attention of the immigration applicants.
Absolutely, I agree with you. Please help us out! Thank you!

Where is your case? You should call and talk to an IO and find out. It will be good if the IO can put in a note in your case on which 140 needs to be used. After around 100 calls, I managed to talk to a very friendly IO, she put in a note and asked for my file to be pulled out of storage (I believe that is what happened in my case). I was on the phone for around 20 minutes with this IO and I couldnt believe how a IO could be so friendly and polite :) Have you treid CIS Ombudsman and USCIS Sec. Napolitano?
Caliguy,
I will reach out to ombudsman and Napolitano this weekend. Another thing i am going to try is applying AP renewal this weekend, set to expire in november anyway. I would rather loose $305 than keep waiting for some miracle. Thanks for your help. I should be able to find the procedure to file 7001 and the Napolitano address in this thread, correct?

That seems to be the way where this is heading. Would this be another july fiasco?.
I dont mean to sound negative but I desperately need a way to file I-485 for my wife to get EAD. She has been rejected twice just coz she did not have a work permit/or was not a GC holder/citizen.
Mind you she has a brilliant engineering academic record and worked in India for 2 years a Java programmer before marrying me
I don't know if USCIS has "wasted" visa numbers but just like the Government has been "borrowing" money from future why cant they borrow "visa numbers" from future (or even past for that matter)...does sound ridiculous  The economy is in recession for last 2 years for sure. Less and less number of folks are filing for GC. I would expect the EB1 numbers spilling over big time to EB2. That has not happened. Its been 3 loooong years after the July 07 fiasco and USCIS still doesnt have enough numbers to clear the backlog...this is BS.
Bottomline is we do need USCIS to advance the dates rapidly enough so that thousands like me can be relieved of their daily ordeal in US....sorry for the selfish thought..:o I just had a shot of tequila....

You have to be aggressive and presistent to get a new job where you get better pay that is above the prevailing wage.
Secondly, if you are being paid lower than prevailing wage right now in H1B, your company is breaking the law and you could be in trouble too.
You need to get out before this thing turns into a nightmare and put your resumes out there on monster, dice etc...and GET THE HELL OUT. The job market is good right now and this is the best time to look for jobs that you can
1. Stay there for 5-6 years while you GC is processed.
2. Has decent pay, well above the prevailing wages.
Do IT NOW before the housing led recession slows the economy down again and job switch becomes difficult. What are you waiting for?

Current US Immigration laws create, long delays for LEGAL, highly skilled immigrants, in getting their permanent residency. These immigrants pay their dues. When you'll address their concerns or you'lll continue to punish them for following law?"

where there are no /nil/nada/zip GCs, it is a fault in the system. Because no disclosures are needed. They are the attorneys and future law makers. They are done with hi-tech workers, nurses. Now it is time to look for new 'bhakra'/'meka'/'aadu'

Did anyone notice that GCTest's only interest was to start a fight between EB2 and EB3 folks.
See how he opened up a thread and threw a match to light the fire so that everyone starts fighting amongst themselves and he did not post again in his own thread .
United we stand and divided we fall. This is true since life started and will be true until the end of time.
You are absolutely right. there is no need to fight we are all in the same pool...There is no EB2/EB3. We are all people who are desperately waiting for our gc's and please we need to work together to have things solved...This post is not helping issues...but making worse.
And for GCtest i think He/She just likes to start a fight and stand back and watch the fun....am I right "GCTEST" ;)

Ohh boy, what a dream. Anyway, it needs to get voted at House. A senate version needs to pass. Both the versions have to be merged and then only president signs, long way to go.

Again, I would like to reiterate that I DO NOT consider an EB-3 candidate inferior just because he/she belongs to a catergory with a lower priority.
But, if you agreed to file in that category then you probably made a compromise and it is not wrong. Everyone is a victim of circumstances at one point or the other in their lives.

Since this discussion has been going on for 5 pages, i thought ill add my 2c.
Firstoff i haven't gone through all 5 pages so if someone already mentioned this, please don't jump on me. You can create an SBI account called SWIFT account. They will give you an account number and a SWIFT code for the bank.
You can then initiate a wire transfer from any bank in the US. They charge a flat rate of around 35-45$. The good part is, you can have the money sent in $ to your local account. They say it takes 3 days but it never takes more than one day for me.
The money is saved in FD as dollars and earns you interest if you leave it for 11 months. If you need to convert it any time, you have to forgo the interest (as with any FD) and you can get the closing exchange rate of the previous day.
This has many advantages
1) one simple fee of 35$
2) In case you want to bring back the money to the us, since it is kept as dollars, you can transfer it back without any hassle. (To keep it in dollars , you may have to provide this as a special instruction)
3) Folks back home have control on exchange rate, they can cash it any time it is high
4) Takes less than a day in most cases.
If you do the math, you will see that this is better than icici when you are sending 4000$ or more approx. icici does not take fees upfront but they always give you almost 50p less than exchange rate.
I have used this 4 times so far and its very reliable.
Thanks.

IV's goal is to fight retrogression. So whoever wants to fight retrogression should stay on board.
However, it is the privilege of a few affected people to discuss their problems on these threads. You are not obligated to follow these discussions if they are not to your taste. It is a legitimate question. Clearly USCIS is using one interpretation of the law while there is another possible one.
The discussion here doesn't mean that IV will flip tomorrow and say they will fight for only India/China EB2s.
Anytime such discussions come up, invariably a few people jump on board threatening to quit IV. Who are you threatening? Are you helping yourself by quitting the fight to solve your problem?
Right and wrong are relative.
You and I both agree about what is going on.
Interpretation of the law is also subjective.
What I am trying to tell you my friend, like I have tried to tell others like you before, is this. If IV hurts my interest, I would have to be an absolute moron to support it.
I really want to contribute more, and get active in my state chapter, but it is posts like these that make me pause and have second thoughts about it.

Guys
I know an instance where a big american pay roll company got people from india on business visa and made them work for $50 per day and the poor guys were slogging more than 10 hours a day.
Ofcourse the manager is a desi ..
I know even Accenture brings people on B1 visa @ 50 dollars a day

Jazz,
As far as the fund drive is concerned I disagree that without the VB we would have not reached our goal We over 22.5K in 6 days. The VB provided a push but I am sure we could have collected the remaining 7.5K in 24 days.
Do you think the drive would have reached its original goal yesterday/early today without the January visa bulletin retrogressing us even further...?
I have my doubts about that... :)
And how far in the past would we need to retrogress to get another funding drive done...?

Any Idea when we can come to know if the rumor is true or not ....
If this happens then a BIG gain for us and Some companies may even get washed out :)
