I haven't seen any ruffled feathers yet, except maybe on the free merchandise spammers.It's alway fun to see the problems they have trying to insert a link to www.***********crap.com and www.freeipodcrap.com
They keep having to edit their posts, and while they're still typing www.free i p o d s . c o m they're already banned and tossed in the wasteland.
So I can see why they hate you guys. :D

I expect this is the first application and I bet they will release a calandar application when Leopard is released next year. It seems that .Mac will get the old versions of iLife. If you look at the other .Mac offerings that will have to be updated it isn't much of a stretch to see them integrate the iWeb and iWork suite. This is obviously Apple's answer to Google G-whatever and Microsoft's Live service.
If .Mac offered a full suite of applications at some point, is it beyond the realm of possibility that Apple could sell a low cost terminal computer? Or maybe a future touch screen iPod that syncs up with .Mac service? Or even better, an iPod with a HDMI out dock that can plug into a monitor or HDTV, and with .Mac it's basically a glorified terminal computer. That would be so cool. :cool:

I'm using a mid 2010 mac mini, samsung miniDV hooked up to firewire 800. (imovie 11) It doesn't skip on the tape, but when I play it back in imovie, it skips in the same place each time. no matter how many times i re-import it, it skips in the same place. Is there any way to stop this?

Apple products are too often kept at RRP - not sure if its always by agreements with apple - "don't discount more than 10% or lose authorised reseller status"
Obviously good for apple products, but not for the consumer.

I don't like the idea. The moment they start chipping away at devices, it'll set a bad precedent for future negotiations. It'll be hard to get back those rights. Apple, hold strong!! :)
Like I said in the post... I don't see them getting to far in negotiations, since the Disney/iTunes partnership has already shown some positive results. They are nit-picking, and if they are wise, they aren't going to shy away from $50+ million just because of nitpicking issues.

No, you are mistaken. What you are talking about here is called "retribution", which is not what justice is supposed to be about. There is more evidence to suggest that the death penalty makes things worse for everyone than when it is not employed. One major example of this might be Canada, which has quite a lot of guns, no capital punishment, and is generally a safer place to be (though I cannot vouch for iJohnHenry's neighborhood ;)).

Honestly, I don't really see what the big deal is. Compared to previous demands of movies and music companies (variable pricing, etc.), asking Apple to limit the number of iPods the movie can be viewed on doesn't seem like an unreasonable request. How many iPods do you own? Yes, it is one more limitation, but I can't really see this limitation as dramatically effecting your ability to view the movie. And, if this small concession opens the floodgates of all of the major movie studios to begin selling movies on iTunes, then I think it's more than fair.

Word is that this is a really really basic functionality intended for data and not meant to be any kind of HD video type of software.
This is however the first step to getting HD discs authored on the Mac.
Right now the only real HD authoring options each cost over $50,000 so if Apple is planning on getting an HD version of DVD Studio pro this would be a start in the right direction.
