Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
Actually, there are just two guys with Wine in the whole room, they all have water or something like that... (Check out the big flickr pic from the previous poster)

Does John Hodgeman doing these commercials mean he's not going to be on The Daily Show anymore? While I like him in the commercials, I would rather see him in The Daily Show.

I live a minute away from Stonebriar but I seriously dislike that mall. I'll be at Willow Bend around 4:30!
I really dislike ALL malls, but Friday I will have to suck it up. It will be a game time decision between WB and SB.

... sooo, a thermocouple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermocouple) on a chip? Thermocouples have horrendous efficiency. I don't see how a such a chip in an enclosed environment (like a laptop motherboard) can achieve enough of a thermal gradient to produce enough current to be useful.
I dunno, i'm skeptical.
Skeptical you should be, but these aren't really thermocouples. The same physical principle applies, but thermocouples are really only for temperature measurement. These are thermoelectric coolers. See here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peltier-Seebeck_effect).
If you want to power the temperature change yourself, you need a high current. But if you want to generate electricity from them, then just connect them into a circuit with out any powersupply i.e. stick a fan's power terminals on that, stick one side of the TEC on a hot chip or cup of tea etc. to setup the delta T. (temp difference) then the fan will start spinning!
Dan :-)
While what you're saying is true in principle, I seriously doubt the practicality of what you're suggesting. TECs are moderately efficient at converting electricity into a temperature differential (or being used as a heat pump), but their efficiency in the other mode of operation (Seebeck effect) is very, very low (typ. < 5%). If you take a chip-sized (~ 1 cm^2) TEC, connect it between a hot processor core at 100 C and ambient temperature at 25 C, you will not have enough power to turn a computer fan at any modest speed. Furthermore, even if you could harvest that electricity and store it, the added energy would be less than 0.1% of a typical laptop battery.
If you wanted to use a larger TEC module (say 16 cm^2) on top of the 80 C CPU case, then the added energy would be less than 1%.
Estimates based on info here (http://www.ferrotec.com/technology/thermoelectric/thermalRef13.php).

I can't answer your specific question other than to say I'm running Logic 9 on a MBP, 2.66 i7, 8 GBs. I'm running 50+ tracks of virtual instruments, with a lot of FX. My samples are all installed on a separate drive, but I'm not even getting a hiccup with playback. Smooth as silk.

Yesterday I was using it in a place that just started construction and the directions took me on the detour! I like the garmin plus the included free traffic works well.

Buy a Daewoo, up to 60% discount on some models.

I still don't understand making the effort in keeping a reverse switchers, let them make the mistake. The joy in seeing them suffer with Windows is well worth it.
But at least they'll have the games to make them happy about their endless suffering.

Kudos to Microsoft for continuing to support Office 2004 (released in 2003) for 7 years after it was released. That's a pretty long time of support. Apparently it will continue until January.

inevitably your right to do "whatever" starts to be limited when your actions infringe on somebody else's rights or cause harm to others.
In any event, federal/state/local governments all have the right to regulate commerce so your "rights" when it comes to operating a business are already limited and regulated
Fair enough...
So how would me exercising my right to refuse to sell X to Y infringe upon Y's "rights"?
Did I take something from them? Did I commit violence upon them?
Something I am seeing more and more which is downright terrifying/befuddling to me is the notion that not giving someone something is the same as taking something from them. Example: Tax cuts. I hear time and time again that tax cuts "cost" the government money. Excuse me?
If I decide to take a day of work off unpaid, is it the same as my employer "taking" money from me? No! They simply did not give it to me!

You don't have to stop posting in general. Only about stuff you download or read on ADC.
I'm going to predict a Friday release, to coincide with Aperture 1.5.

Do you have proof apple ordered the destruction of the products?
There are a few outlets to get the same products but they are in China.
Of course not. I was saying that if these were the original parts that were rejected by Apple, then there isn't much wiggle room regarding the fact that they are stolen goods. It is highly unlikely that Apple released these parts for sale. It is much more likely that they were ordered stored or destroyed. Either way, they would now be stolen property.
Now, if they were from another manufacturer (i.e. a knock-off product), or from a non-Apple production run at Foxconn (though there may be some serious issues there, too, as under contract Apple may own all product coming off certain tools), then the only possible criminal issue would be patent infringement.

And even having read that letter, I'm still opposed to Apple's moves and intentions here. They're still trying to trademark the word "Pod", which I think is utterly farcical.
What you need to keep in mind is that trademarks are not universal. They are trying to trademark usage of the word "Pod" within the arena of digital music players only:
IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: portable and handheld digital electronic devices for recording, organizing, transmitting, manipulating, and reviewing audio files, and peripherals for use therewith; computer software for use in organizing, transmitting, manipulating, and reviewing audio files on portable and handheld digital electronic devices
How "pod" is used in the context of vegetables, spaceship evacuation mechanisms, or whaling is completely irrelevant to any discussion here.

As someone already pointed out, the Army currently uses iPods with translation programs in the field.
The advantage is that they're comparatively cheap, and young soldiers already know the basics of using them.
It's also been mentioned that the Army could use them to display videos of local leaders asking people to cooperate, etc. Plus remote control of robots, etc.
As for visiting Apple, who knows. Usually the military finds a third party company to modify units, but in this case they could be checking to see if Apple was willing to build a bunch for less.

I don't think that's true. I pretty much know it's not actually.
Shooting a 50mm on a 5d will produce a focal length of 50mm and a Field of view of 50mm. (50x1+50)
Shooting a 50mm on a 7d will produce a focal length of of 50mm and a field of view of 80mm. (50x1.6=80)
I didn't say on different cameras. I said different lenses on the same, crop, camera.
This is not correct.
A EF-s 50 mm lens is 50 mm on a 1.6 camera. A 50mm EF lens on that same camera is similar in image to a 80mm EF-S lens. The reason for the difference comes into play by the amount of the lens the camera is using to record the image and the proximity of the rear element to the camera sensor.
Look. I own a 7D. I own an EF-s 17-85mm IS USM. I own a EF 50mm prime. I know that if I set the zoom to 50mm and take the same shot as with the prime exact same field of view. EF-s lenses are not corrected for the crop in the way you are saying they are.

Your iphone is sooo modded im not surprise... Lol im jailbreak too and everything seems to work except for the sound... The push is fast too it comes 1sec before my mobile me email notification
I am not jailbroken and I have had problems with push too. At first absolutely nothing. This morning the alerts started coming through, but no badges. Then after a couple of hours, badges would work, but sound has never worked.
I wish the badges would disappear if I view the notifications online on a computer. I left my house with the badges reading "4" but they were all notifications I read about an hour earlier.
Also, messages don't come through as badges, only silent alerts.
If you're going to put an update like this thru, make sure it works! Did they even test this thing once?!?!
