I thought there were slightly more women? It would make sense that there would be as they live longer!
Well, I just thought I made a mistake by writing the above, but did some research and to my surprise, we are in trouble!
According to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sex_ratio
In 2010 the world sex ratio was 101 males per 100 females.
No wonder, like Rodney Dangerfield used to say: 'There's no respect!'

"Something in the Air"? My first thought is wireless.
This could refer to:
- iPhone updates (just firmware, perhaps an early SDK release, or more flash memory)
- Ultraportable laptop
- A more advanced download service (Rentals?).

Quick question guys, I've been using a pc for many years and I've decided to get a MBP for college. I'll be doing some heavy photo and video editing, gaming and movie watching. I was looking at the 2.66 ghz 15" MBP, is that a good way to go, or do you think I need more power?
I have plenty of time to wait for the new refresh, I won't really need it until July. Any suggestions?

I thought no one cared...
Exactly. One reason why I've tuned out a little from news threads over the years because they're often filled with a relentless tide of a) people who haven't got the slightest clue what they're talking about or b) assume that because they have an opinion about something, that everyone else shares it, including people who don't post on tech forums.
Tip-toeing and cherry-picking through the chaff to find those who've got something of value to add and something we can all learn from can be a time-consuming affair.
Regardless of your musical tastes, why anyone who proclaims to care about Apple's success would begrudge them expanding their catalogue to include one of the most influential bands of the 20th century... well, it's a complete mystery to me.

They just capped us home and business owners (DSL and Fiber)...
I would imagine that wireless will follow. AT&T and Verizon will have to honor contracts for the time being. But when the contract is over...
I don't know if they "legally" are required to, but even when your two year contract is up they don't change it to one of their "new plans"
They will allow you to be grandfathered in as long as you wish, and as long as you continue to pay your monthly bill. Even when you extend a new 2 year contract and buy a new phone, you are agreeing to keep the service for 2 years, but they will allow you to stay on your original plan. That's how we are allowed to have unlimited data and iPhone 4's.

Ok, so its going to be called imovie. So we're gonna have 2 imovies, how confusing., will it be a seperate software or will it built into itunes, personally i think that itunes should be music only, then programs and films and vodcasts in a separate application called imovie, Itunes is too clogged up.

It is strange that MS don't seem to have given us a common table of comparison, I wonder why?
I have no intention of switching to Vista from Mac OS X, but just for my own amusement I would love to see a table of comparison for the five different versions of Vista, because aside from the Data Encryption all that the *ULTIMATE* version seems to have is a Photo Programme, a Movie Maker, and a Media Interface, and the upgrade version costs twice the amount of OS X, which has superior photo and movie apps. And for people without XP the price is phenomenal.
The basic doesn't even have the much flaunted "aero" interface, what does it look like then without it, and why miss off such a defining feature of your new OS from one of its versions?
I'm glad that I don't have to make the choice between the different versions and that I made the simple choice years ago to choose Mac over PC.
(BTW, do they need permission to use this name from Cadbury, in the UK aero is a type of chocolate bar with loads of air bubbles in)

the key issue in my case was that my macbook couldn't go to sleep or be closed, everytime it woke up, it wouldn't last longer than 3 seconds and then shut down and all of the other known symptoms.
I ran the firmware upgrade and it works fine now, it's not hot or anything and the fans seem to be working at a normal pace.
Well, I am grateful for the fact that I don't have to turn in the mac for 5 days or more for servicing... I make a living out of this thingy...:D
I second instadan. MacBook was working fine until the last Apple update, then started RSS.
After the new update it's fine. Running same temp a previously and fans also working as previously. Happy (for now).

We bought seven MacBooks shortly after they were released and three of them started having problems (random shutdown) almost immediately. When the third one started acting up I called our vendor to ask if there were any know problems. It was obvious that they had answered that question before it came from me (and interesting that they never mentioned it when I sent in the first two). We sent all three of them back to Apple for new motherboards, no cost and no questions. The down side is that the kept each machine for 10 business days because of their backlog.

man i wish 3D would just disappear...
soon it will disappear... there was the 3D spike back then than it disappeared and came back like what 2 years ago?
and this is the worst rumor ever! Apple will never do this gimmick!

I'm saying that all those people who said, "Everyone who likes the Beatles already have all of their albums" (ahem, that list includes me!) weren't just wrong, they were epically wrong.
Second.
Although... it could have just been fans who already owned pirated copies deciding that they liked the Beatles so much that they should legally download it.
I do that sometimes if I like something a lot and regret having pirated it.

Has anybody found Xcode 2.4 yet? It's not up on ADC as far as I can see.
There is a link to a disk image at "http://developer.apple.com/tools/download/", but when I click on it I am asked for my ADC member password, and on the next page there is no trace of Xcode 2.4. Only a link to XCode 2.3 download. Maybe they just got the name wrong, but I won't download 915 MB to find out.

A Phat iPod Touch sounds like a great product to me. Integrate an iPad touch with limited flash storage and a iPad Hard Drive. Call it the Phat iPod Touch..

An "Image Sensor" is not a camera. The sensor is part of a camera. In addition to a sensor one needs to add at least a lens, some buffer memory and a controller. Sony makes image sensors for many, other camera makers.
8MP is way to many pixels for a cell phone camera. The only reason to have so many is for marketing purposes because consumers seem to think (wrongly) that more is better. What really limits sharpness of a cell phone camera is the physical size of the lens. If the lens projects a blurred image onto the focal plane the best sensors will simply make a very good recording of the blurred image.

Apologies.
When you said "the" president I thought you mean the co-opted, sorry-excuse-for-a-change-agent we currently have in the White House.
(apologies too for my extra salty mood)

I bet the non US growth is more like 30/35%. Amazing how they are growing like they are in the US.
I've actually never owned a mac. Ipads and iphones but i'm buying my first mac this year. So I'll add to that US sales growth.
Welcome, you're gonna love it!

To all those cutting military by huge percentages, what are your plans to deal with the millions of unemployed that would produce?
I'd move a lot of the defense spending to NASA, renewable energy, infrastructure projects, and job training. The first three can employ a lot of the engineers that are put out of work, and the job training helps the rest be prepared for new more useful jobs.
