If I could replace my iPod classic with a 120GB iPod Touch I would do it in a heartbeat. To me the only think the classic has on the touch is storage size. In every other way the Touch is much better.

I really wish Android Spambots would keep to Android forums.

Anyway, not unexpected. At least 5 of my immediate friends have switched from Windows to Mac after seeing my setup and how reliable and stable Mac's with OS X are.

I totally agree. However, the 4.x was sold as a viable update to my phone, and my older iPod Touch was upgraded automatically. Had I known it would have rendered them quite useless, I would have not agreed to the upgrade. Also, there is no way (that I can tell) to downgrade to a previous IOS (I'm not overly geeky). I am not asking for on-going support, rather that the phone that I paid for works for its lifetime. It is Apple's fault for not providing a reasonable explanation of what the consequences would be or providing an alternative to that IOS.

I agree and appreciate your even measured approach. If the device won't really work with the upgrade, then don't include it.

And let's all be reasonable that a 2+ year old device not being supported shouldn't be a surprise. Tech moves forward very fast. The farther the edge is pushed, the farther and faster away we get from what's behind us.

So the 60% brighter display is just a software update?

OK, so there are no added features, just minor things like tweaked display and battery. All the new functionality is just new software and available to the other 5G ipods. Is that better?

Gapless playback is a software update ????

I believe so. I think someone has already posted that they tried it on their 5G and it worked.

why does everyone complain on who carries the ipad 2??? seriously grow up and realize that its an opportunity for you to get one. if your an average person looking for an ipad the last place you would look is toys r us . that benefits you . i personally work at radioshack and yall complain that radioshack carries it too. stop living in the 80's and think that we have electronic projects that you do every month for your grandson . radioshack offers the best deals with the trade in program ( which i bet most of yall dont even know about ) example : just did this yesterday , traded in a ladies iphone 3gs 16 GB and upgraded to an iphone 4 16GB for $25 . please name someone that can beat that price??? nough said . same thing with the ipad . bring them your old ipad and you pay very little money towards new electronics . of course this is not with EVERY item so dont be that costumer that complains that they get $12 for a beat up HTC hero

THINK before you speak . and stop complaining

This sounds to me like Wal-Mart might be angling to get in on the online movie store business. They're certainly not going to stop selling movies, but I can see them pressuring studios to partner with them (exclusively) for some sort of online download service.

As for Wal-Mart, the company, it's power and influence on business markets in this country is not so much a commentary on itself, but instead, on society. The fact is there are a lot of poor people in this country who need cheap goods and services and Wal-Mart affords that to them. You take that away and something else will replace it.

I was in my local Asheville BB last night and they had 0 physically in stock. I was first in the line of about 20 at BB this morning and they had 2 each of the 32 and 64gb ATT and Verizon ipads, but no wifi only. Since i have an Iphone 4 I couldn't care less about the 3g ones.

The reservation thing is just total BS if you ask me. Give us $100 bucks so we can let you know whenever they come in. No thanks guys I'll pass. Great way to piss a lot of people off though!

I ran into a few people who saw it on macrumors though so that was cool at least.....

I just don't see that happening, even if they have an optical drive in it. Apple is content with the portable line as it is, and the MacBook is pretty compact already. Plus, I don't see Apple using a smaller widescreen than 13.3".

Apple content with portable line?!? I seriously doubt that - Jobs has repeatedly mentioned they have a *lot* of stuff in the pipeline.

And I don't see how you can say that Apple wouldn't go smaller than 13.3" widescreen. If Apple previously had a *non* widescreen 12" PowerBook, why on earth would they be opposed to having at least widescreen 12" laptop? I mean a 12" widescreen display is superior in almost every respect to a non-widescren 12" display. It's better not only for movie viewing but also in my experience for surfing the web, document, editing, etc. (can fit more text in one line, and scrolling vertically is more common/natural than scrolling horizontally).

So that's actually why I think a 10.6" widescreen is viable. Apple previously had a non-widescreen 12" PowerBook, and a 10.6" widescreen display is almost the same width...

Isn't the user experience destroyed when we can't open a page or go to a link because we don't have Flash? I know what you're saying, but it's destroyed either way (too sloooow or nothing).

Exactly. While flash can be a PITA, it's really annoying to not be able to get to certain websites or other content because of the lack of flash. I'd like the option to turn it on only when I need it.

I am seriously thinking of getting out of Windowsworld and the new 24" iMac looks great!:D

From the listed specs this will really rock.

Anybody have advice on whether I should wait for Leopard to come out or not?

Why wait? It's perfect! You'll drive yourself crazy waiting. It's like staring at a sizzling steak in front of your face, but deciding not to eat it until April!

after they took such a strong step away from the metal inclosures.. would they really switch back a year later?

Yeah, but they have to do something about the rampant scratching and the ease with which one can break it. Fully metal one seems like a good way to do that.

Well, don't believe him. The fact that there already is a 15" MBP should be evidence that Apple will never release a 15" MBP.

Sorry. I meant to say that he told me there will be a 15 inch MacBook:rolleyes:

You can change the tracking settings to make it faster...

TY for the info. I have been made aware of the settings from a few people. I still like the Trackpad better though.;)

Although they did give all the developers who 'rented' the 'Intel Development Kit' from WWDC '05 a Intel iMac when they were released in January. ;)

Also, kids, this is what we should be discussing:

True, but I think that was because it was the only shipping intel machine apple was shipping. Not for any other reason.
