What is a unibody white MacBook? It's either white or an unibody.

It's the white MacBook Apple has been selling for the past 2 years. By Apple's description, it's a "white unibody" MacBook. The current white MacBook design is very different from the previous polycarbonate MacBook design.

I dont understand why you insist on spending $60+ on a converter board and bracket...everyone including myself have a lot of success with the one from smk312 on ebay and I believe its $20-$28. There are really no electronics on that board, it basically just converts from one plug to another.

Thanks guys I got it working based on the suggestions. I just have a learning curve to go through after being with a PC all of my life. Luckly I'm not having too many issues.

On another note, anyone have a good idea for a travel bag that will carry a 13" mac book pro with charger, Iphone and Ipad 2. Any suggestions or experiences will be help full.

The only other issue would be MS office for mac as I'm having a hard time getting the exchange server to work but I think that is on my side not apple or the computer.

Hi all,

I have a mid-2009 15� MBP. Last year I upgraded my 500GB HDD with a 160GB SSD. Overall I love the results and believe it�s one of the best hardware upgrades I have made in recent years.

However, 160GB quickly becomes difficult to work with (especially with multiple VMs) so I am keen to look for another internal storage solution.

This is where OptiBay comes in. Allowing me to remove my optical drive (which I never use) and add an additional HDD.

I am keen to understand if anyone has any experience with OptiBay? Any issues or things I should know about?

My other problem is which one to buy? There are loads on eBay, but I worry about quality. So I have narrowed my search to:

MCE OptiBay (http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/) for $99 or iFixit OptiBay (http://www.ifixit.com/Apple-Parts/9-5-mm-SATA-Optical-Bay-SATA-Hard-Drive-Enclosure/IF107-080) for $59.95?

Any thoughts? I consider iFixit to be a reparable company and it�s cheaper, but I don't want to drop quality.

To sum things up with as little grief as possible, I'm selling my SD300. I don't have the box or anything for it but I do have a cheap walmart case to include and an extra battery. I also have a 1gb sandisk SD card to include with it. If somebody wishes, I can negotiate a deal for no card to be included say..if somebody already has one or something. You get the charger too.

I think I got what you want, but unfortunately I tweaked a little here and there too much and so I'm not completely sure what all I changed. I'm attaching a screen shot of the result in Firefox 4 RC1. As a note, the page doesn't look right in Opera 11. The background gradient color on the body is what's off.

Here's the aside, which was the crucial part. This is only what I added to the existing styles.

Yeah the buttons at the bottom of that window are the ones.

Wow, they've completely changed the "about this Mac" screen for the first time in Mac OSX. Its looks way better, and you no longer need to go into the system profiler to get basic stats, or use iStat Pro. Wow...:D Can NOT wait to get Lion!

It's still not in the dashboard so I'm not too sure about it replacing iStat Pro. Don't think I want to click :apple: -> About this Mac -> System and then view the information. Would rather just hit F4

From Beck's nonsense to Chris Matthews getting a tingle up his leg with Obama, I've found little worth paying for. Dropped cable last year, and haven't missed the news channels a bit. Don't bother getting a pressure sensitive keyboard unless you're already a proficient player.
I disagree. Pressure sensitivity opens possibilities for much more varied playing styles; even if he isn't proficient at the moment then a pressure sensitive one is much better to learn on. Without pressure sensitivity he might as well just use the option in Garageband to play using the computer keyboard.

I unfortunately am unable to press the option key while starting up as its locked and I was wondering whether theres anyway of allowing the disk to be ejected (after the windows installation) from windows without having to switch back to mac?

If you just bought a new iMac will apple give you the new lion free or with a discount?

Not at this point. The time frame will probably be from when they announce the release date at WWDC in early June until the actual release if they don't announce a date at that time, it will be whenever they announce a date. Once they have told people when it is coming out, they don't want to hurt sales, so they offer the new OS.

Anyone buying from this past Tuesday until that announcement is not eligible for anything less than what anyone else would pay.

I got

Connection Error: Could not connect to MySQL instance at localhost. Error: Unknown system variable 'sql_mode' (code 1193) I have the exact same error. I attribute it to something I don't know that I'm doing wrong. Perhaps someone can shed some light?

I bought a 16GB iPod touch at the Ginza Apple Store on Tuesday. I already had an 8GB model (bought the day launched in Japan from BicCamera) and this has found it's way to my partner, so not a waste of money - we were both getting one eventually. There were quite a few in stock, and when I asked they said that most of the 16GB are finding their way to the Apple Stores, and other venders (like BicCamera) are only getting the 8GB in larger quantities.

Anyway, will see if I can 'appropriate' a couple of extra t-shirts for my fellow Tokyo based MacRumor colleagues who can't attend! Probably not possible, but I did get some extra stuff when Tiger came out…

What you want to do with the secondary display is called clamshell mode.

You need an external keyboard and mouse to achieve it.

1. Plug in and turn on external display
2. Close the lid of the computer, let it sleep
3. Wake it up using said external keyboard and mouse
4. Your external is now your main, and only display, running at it's native resolution.
