I also wanted to let you know that I opened an SR on 5-6-2011. Just saw many people getting approved who PD was after mine. Hence opened an SR. Appreciate for your time taken to answer the questions...
Did you take infopass appt to find out the status. What is SR? Service Request for someone to take a look into your case?

Waiting is all we have been doing for so many years. I have been living separately from my wife for last 3 years. When I reached out to Pappu on IV, he refused to do anything for me. I am ready to come forward and talk to media but nobody is here to listen.
I am seriously considering some media awakening event these days, it might be suicide or whatever it takes but this DOS stupidity has to stop. Its affecting so many people's life. I agree GC is not a right that we can demand from US government but they can't treat us like this after investing so many productive years for this Economy.
buddy...your quote kinda worries me. I can understand what you have gone through but always remember there are good things to life beyond worrying about this GC mess, following visa bulletins, and subsequent frustration/high bp/heart attack.
I do what I can to educate the people around me about this legal immigration limbo and whatever within my control. I suggest you chill and use your energy positively to benefit yourself.
Spring is here and I am going fishing this weekend, wanna come along?

Contribute for what. I would , If I am told for what we are contributing. What are the real faces.
I am not one of those who can go advocate at places as I do not have luxury of it. I respect people who are going beyond their daily schedule and advocating, but what are the goals.
I however want to contribute not *donate* if I know what am I going after.
For any advise the standard answer we get is - Consult your immigration lawyer.
I dont want to dampen the interests of others who are ready to contribute. Tell me few reasons and I can contribute a decent amount.
May be we should make this paid. and then I will find my reason and I will pay to join
For your PD and EB category, you are able to enjoy 4 years of AOS benefits just because of IV. You will soon get your GC, only because of IVs continuous fight with CIS.. But hey you won't see it because it all happens behind the scene and someone else is picking your tab...

Hi shank123 and usirit
What I mean by signatures is, I don't know should I say (digital signature) , anything that has to be done before sending a letter that snathan is working on getting from Mr.Gotcher. When Mr.Gotcher drafted it for us, we have to get as many people as we could who are in the same situation and write their name (or do something) on that letter... right ?
Sending something to Audit Review Officers is also an idea. However, what are we going to send them (may be reminder cards :P) and how. I guess we are a very small group of people compared to those who were affected by 485 cases and it's much more difficult to get attention from both candidates and DOL.

After 5 months they're auditing my PERM application. My attorney just sent me an email. They're not asking for specifics but wants to make sure we advertised the position. Attorney's going to submit a report as to why the applicants weren't hired as well.

On my wife's labor certificate, it is said her position requires a minimum of master degree. But the alternate is bachelor degree plus 2 years' experience. The lawyer has filed I-140 under EB2.
We are worried that this position does not qualify EB2 because we read on the internet that EB2 requires master degree or bachelor plus at least 5 years' progressive experience. We called the lawyer and said we heard from a friend such a case had been denied. She was very busy and just said there was no problem to apply for Eb2, and if we doubt it, we can hire our friend as a lawyer. We are so pissed off.
Can someone help me clarify if this position is qualified for EB2? do we need to change it to Eb3?
Thanks.
LOL. When I read the title of this post, I thought the pistons just signed up an indian immigrant :)

Thanks Lasantha for your reply. I am not sure if employer can call on my behalf and get an update on my application??. I did explain to my employer that to get an update I can call USCIS but they want an update from USCIS in writting to keep it on my employee file in the HR dept. I am not sure if USCIS will reply to the inquiry in writing or not. (I think by law, they have to, right??) what is the amiling address at NSC???
I filed for my I-485 myself without the help of a lawyer.
My employer (a small business) has never gone through the GC sponsorship before me and they are not familiar with the process.

Both Addresses will be printed on the passport. One for current address in USA and other for Indian Permanent address.
In the form it looks like this:
Permanent address
(a) In India:
-----
(b) In County of domicile
--
I am clear with In India but confused with In County of domicile
Can some one please explain what it is?? Is it country instead of county?

I am happy that many of our high skilled community has understood my idea and supporting this thread. Yes definitely Core IV needs to look into this. You can also include your valid points so that core IV team can consolidate and research on this.

can propose
ANY one who has PAID US FEDERAL TAXES for Five Years ( Irrespective of their visa categories) and HAS MASTER OR HIGHER DEGREE IN THE STEM FIELDS, Should get their GC in THREE YRS after Getting their Greencard.

I am a new member on IV. Haven't contributed, haven't send flowers or thank you cards, haven't volunteered for anything. In fact, I had not even heard of IV up until a month or so back.
However, as I read about the IV efforts in response to the July fiasco, I realised there are a lot of people out here on IV who are doing a tremendous amount of work, work that affects me as an individual positively.
At the last minute, I decided to drive down from NJ. My wife has never ever been on any immigration forum. But she was all for it. We thought it would be too late to get on the NJ bus and drove down.
ME AND MY WIFE ARE VERY PROUD OF IV AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT MADE IT TO DC. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!!!!
For the first time in my life, I have stood up for anything. I am from India and I hate to say it but for far too long, most Indians I know have been shy/meek/lazy about standing up for what we believe in.
Hats off to all the IV volunteers, people who came in and worked over the weekend, people especially who flew into DC, people who came with their kids!!!
PS: Disappointed in my fellow East Coast ppl for no turning up in more numbers

You said you will post update in general forum after month in donor forum. Where is that initiative ? Still it is locked. Is IV only interested in donors only ?

Makes sense, like the idea of abolishing the waiting period for GC.... but with all due respect i belive that will never happen esp in a post 911 era where there is a lot of checks. I belive if they put the name check process in a fast track it would be benificial. Suks that we have to wait another 5 years after getting GC to get Citizenship, if anything i would think counting 5 years after 485 is logical.
I think we should not talk about abolisihing waiting time for citizesnhip (after GC) and no one as I see talking that.
Most of us are talking about REDUCING waiting time for Employment based GC holder, who is already here for several years.
Most practical thing might be to make it Similar to Marriage based Citizenship where you just have to wait for 3 yrs after GC.
So we can Request for reducing citizenship waiting period from 5 to 3 years for employment based GC holders who had paid atleast 5 years in the Federal taxes ( to preserve orignal intent of 5 year for family based GC holders waiting period for citizenship) , Have MS or Higher degree in STEM field ( Last time they tried to reduce one year for any one who can study and learn english) , Can pass Background Check and Moral Standards ( that is must for security purpose).
