Best bet would be to talk to the Office of International Students in the university.
go with OPT and then when thats almost over.. then you can switch to EAD.../find alternatives
NO ssn tax on OPT ... which is a good advantage for you..

I just have one more question, i also have my I-485 filed. We have given our fingerprinting tests but there has not been further progress. But would these double receipts have any effect on my I-485 process?

Hello everyone,
My driver's license has come up for renewal in Feb 2009. I have 2 yrs EAD.I have send my H1 for renewal but it has not got yet approved..
My employer suggessted that I use my EAD card to get my license renewed. In Ideal case I would like to use my approved H1 to renew my license. However since its taking time for my H1 renewal can I use my EAD card to get my license renewed.

Today i received a mail(04/12/2009) .Uscis issued an RFE. I am still waiting for it in mail.
she is currently in india . coming back on 04/15/2009. will there be any problem for her while coming back. I am july 2007 filer on priority Date eb3 ( 04/23/2003). I have left my employer last year.My 140 was approved on feb 2007. what are my options.

Is your wife travelling on H4 or AP.In both cases she should be fine.If she will travel on H4 then this is totally unrelated as your H1 is still valid and and she will be fine,if she is on AP then after RFE your case is suspended for about 3 weeks when you reply for the RFE and according to me she will be safe in the interim period of suspension to travel.
Please consult your attorney for confirmation.

Since it is a not for profit i will fall under the quota.
She can transfer to other not for profits. Transferring to other for profit companies is challenging as it has to be under the quota.

I strongly fell you should get it fixed. Any how you have good Priority date after correction. If they dont correct then you are still lucky :)
Keep all evidences that you tried to correct it. This will help in future if any thing goes wrong from there side.

Hi,
My employer had given me an approved labour and filed for my I140 in May for which I have received the receipt notice. I subscribed myself for email alerts in USCIS website with my I140 receipt notice number. Few days before I received an email from USCIS that a request for withdrawal of my I140 was accepted and I will have to file a new application if I want to apply again. I questioned my employer regarding the same but they said they didnt withdraw my I140 application and that it must be a screw up from USCIS side.
Question 1: Is it possible that it can be a mistake from USCIS side?
I have been approached by a different employer who is ready to file my GC.
Question 2: If my existing employer has really not withdrawn my I140 application, can there be problems for me if I change my employer and my new employer files my GC..(since there can be two I140s from two different employers) ?

Once your H1b application gets selected you cannot work until atleast oct 01 2009 which is usually start date on the approval. the date may not be exactly oct 01 but it will be certainly in that range.
