I have been using screen in the osx terminal to get serial access, using the following:

    screen telnet /dev/tty.usbserial

Unfortunately I can't scrollback in screen, which makes copying long config files a process of :apple:-C, :apple:-V, and repeat. Any suggestions for native serial support in the osx terminal app WITH scrollback?

I do not understand why you are using screen to launch telnet instead of invoking it directly, but try using logging in screen (-L if memory serves right)

Personally I would use tee to make a copy of the output in a file and extract your config files from this file.

Also IIRC Cisco's iOS lets you save and load config files directly. I do not remember the exact syntax but try built-in help...

    Hope this helps,
    Trebor.

Is there a college near by? Check to see if they offer any web classes and walk in there one day and say you are just there for the trial version of 30 days. They will understand. On day 28.5, take a copy of dreamweaver from one of their putes.

    It should work.

How many MB can it support?
Does it come with any cartridges?

Apple will probably keep the same pricing scheme. But no one knows for sure.

Doors opened promptly at 5:00, and the first batch of customers were welcomed in to the store to thunderous applause (I've seen this on videos, but I thought it was just a Cupertino or NY flagship store thing). I was about four people behind the first batch in, so I ended up getting in and out in 15 minutes.

When I left, the line stretched all the way back to the ice skating pavilion and around the corner to Panera. If I had to guess, easily north of 250 people.

Here's an interesting tidbit: just before the doors opened, one member of the security team started barking at people to put their cameras and cellphones away. He was even chasing down pedestrians on the other side of the street. Not sure what that B.S. was about, but as a photographer, I take exception to that sort of overreach. It's a public street, and last time I checked, the Apple store is not a post office, military base, or other government facility.

Well, If you own 2 keyboards and 2 mice then why don't you check to see if your monitor already supports 2 computers and that will save you money?

I don't get it. I see a box with two sets of letters, FS on top and FF on the bottom. Why do I see that instead of the symbol? On some posts and signatures I see the apple symbol, but for example, BC2009's post is 4 of those boxes and a smiley. Weird

So some of this could be new stock that's just repacked for a low price? Possible I suppose.
Although I wonder where they've dug up the 3rd gen iPods from. Think they've found a stock room that they thought they'd lost? ;)

I'm sure there is some iPod cemetery where the undead 3rd-gens wait to be sold as refurbished... *BUUUAAHHH*

Basically, it doesn't sound too good. It might sound better with high impedance cans. I have some akg k77 and the output on my macbook sound pretty bad compared to my external soundcard.

I don't think you'll get trouble with getting enough volume out of it with high impedance headphones as the output can go ridiculously high so I don't think that would be a problem even with high impedance cans.

See this thread if you consider the 6870:

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1127583

However it, seems like there are some glitches vs. a 5870 with no real big performance gain.

I have a 5870 in my 2010 Mac Pro and every game runs perfectly with max settings at about 60-100 fps on my 27" Dell at 2560x1440.

If you copy by burning a dvd along with the itunes library data couldn't you just drop it into the itunes folder? Otherwise if you just transfer the music folders it seems you'd lose all your changed info.....comments, genre etc. I for one would really hate do redo the info on thousands of songs.

    Marlene
That's true that you would lose any info that isn't stored inside the music file itself (i.e. in the ID3 tag of an MP3) - I prefer to have iTunes open and drag the info to iTunes so it finds it and imports it immediately. Using your method, I'd have to do the copy while iTunes is closed, then open iTunes and hope it sees the new music library.

I love macs they are so cool. I'm a little skeptical over the iPod. But that's a different matter. I know Apple are always using iThis and iThat. However I think it is a bit cheeky that they are using there legions of lawyers to steal Cisco's trademark. I know that it has the i before Phone but thousands of products exsist with the i before product names. It's only because Apple wants the name. Hypothetically if you made a computer screen and called it iScreen. Then if apple made a screen and wanted to use your name How would you feel if they took it from you due to their stronger legal forces? Not happy I presume. That is the same thing happening to Cisco. I do have an idea which could help Apple. If they want to hear it they can email me.

What is your opinion on Cisco and Apple's dispute?

I think it provides a whole new subject for trolling. I also think it is between Cisco and Apple.

I really hate how if you have to reformat your computer Apple doesn't tell you that you've purchased an app before :(

Makes it VERY difficult to get all your apps back without purchasing new ones by mistake...

I had both a Macally IceKey and a Alu Powerbook, and the similarities were definitely there. It doesn't take much effort to push the keys, and they're low so you can type faster. I also found that my wrists hurt less, especially since I've switched back to the Apple BT keyboard.

I'd try it out -- you can't go wrong with the price.

May I suggest that you backup your Photos and other imprtant data to optical medaia (DVD-R/CD-R)?

They are backed up on DVD-R's and on a FW Hard Drive (and on my iPod). Maybe too many backups :)

I call shenanigans. Why sell a cheaper model when people would buy up the more expensive one if the cheaper one wasn't

Same reasons they sell a macbook and a macbook pro?

Someone was asking about scanner reviews - not too much that's current out there. Many reviews date from the late 90's!! I guess the push to digital cameras killed most of the market.

    http://www.bythom.com/coolscanv.htm

I should note that the 4000ED is my third generation dedicated 35mm scanner. I bought a first generation Nikon personal scanner back in 1993. Hard to get a good scan, as it's dynamic range was pretty bad. My second generation was a Polaroid Sprintscan from 1998. Much better, but single feed and still spotty with complicated slides. I bought the Nikon 4000 in 2003 and have been VERY happy with its performance.
