Awesome, 7606 members. Need 1396 members in the next 12 days. means more than 100 members a day. Come-on guys. out of the 7606 members we need only 100 or so members to add one more member. That is a joke, we can do better.

Dear Swamy,
If you can get a group of IV's and IV supporters to walk/run an event in Detroit, I will assist by helping you find an event, and of course each of you can join Team IV. As you round up IV members and non-members to be a part of this, please have them e-mail me at TeamIV@yahoo.com so that I can send them a Team IV Membership form.
Thanks for helping us get the Detroit area involved!!!

All these ideas have been debated several times before and there have been too many bills that didnt go anywhere. It's probably wiser to try to push the bills that have already been introduced than to push new ones and waste more time. ...
I have been active with IV even before you came here (since 2006) so don't question my sincerity. I do agree that my manner was too sarcastic and you seem like an overly sensitive kind of guy and you probably like things sugar coated-here it is-good idea, thought by many, several times before your eureka moment. Fact is- Bills (eventually they will all be merged ino one) are not likely to succeed till 2011,
...
It suits them to pretend to not undertsand the dfference. Think like them, it's their career and it's all business. Just remember it's usually never personal.
Do know that we are all going through same shit and are on the same team.
Yes I am well aware of previous attempts, and we all know how the system works. No one is being idealistic or naive.
Well trying to push existing bills is not a problem if they aren't screw**g us.
Have you seen my opposition to DREAM too? Its going to put illegals ahead of EB.
Also I feel it is my responsibility and all of ours not to burden this country's welfare and speak out against law breakers.
Maybe I should have renamed this - alternative to CIR, but I'm looking for other options too - like adding to DREAM and other bills that have a lot of support. We also need a phone campaign during lame duck session when up to 20 bills will be jammed in.
We are all well aware of the nuances of politics....... even a school kid in India knows a thing or two about deal making, corruption in politics.

If you read closely, it appears like the 290,000 immigrant visas would be true for years from now on and for years 2001-2005 (the diffrence between current limit and this section). If that's the case and if that becomes a law, there is possibility there will be no backlog after that for some time...short time probably. Please correct me if I am wrongly reading this section. But for me, it appears it applies retroactively and will add the diffrence (150k a year) between years 2001-2005. If my calculation and understanding is correct, once this act becomes a law, the first year there would be 290k + 600k from years 2001-2005 ......I am not sure if my understanding is correct. I prey it is..
I don' think there is a point which says the visas from 2001-2005 will we
290K. From this fiscal year it will be 290K.
1) The total number of visa available that were not used last year
2) the total number of visa available that we not used from 2001-2005
From 2001-2006 the total was 140K
140 / 4 categories = 35000K for each(India-china-mexico-other). Now we do not know how many were unused from 2001-2006.
From what I understand, I do understand the country limits, and my guess is
There is no country limits, but only EB type limits.
If I am correct the dates of Each should move at least 2-2.5 years from now.
I believe people who need I-485 filling option without priority date should hope to get this too. STEM section has more support to be passed because it was never an issue in any of the houses.
This is my understanding-- I may be wrong

I will back you up on this:)
Unless one has studied in the US, one will not realize the worth of the US educational system. One clear attribute of US educated professionals is their superior written and verbal communication skills. Not to mention the enhanced ability to culturally fit in a diverse environment.
Unintentional, might be, but you did ruffle this topic of US Master's vs US Non-Master's with this rather sad comment (warm spit!). I dont want to go much further into this either but talking about something that you obviously dont know (useless subjects 'assembly language programming'), you havent added any valule addition here either. (Just FYI, even during peak recession, ppl with ALP skills were really very few because most of the direct recruits from '6 month NIIT courses' werent upto system level programming).
And btw, if think that a 6 month course in NIIT with a degree in tier 3 university is going to help get a job during times of recession, then i dont know what to tell you.
Yes, i do have an MS degree from the US and i did suffer lay-off during recession - bounce back, i did really quickly while i saw few ppl that only had '6 month courses from NIIT' suffer for long times without a job because all they had to offer was that...their six month experience at NIIT!!
Btw, i do appreciate all the work that you do and all your postings too, but i felt that i had to give a riposte to something that i find insinuating and written without a whole lot of thought....

Is it just me. Has anyone noticed all these new threads and posts by new members, their 1 or 2nd post and they are bashing the Indian consulting firm. They are asking for names of such firms to file a lawsuit against them. The timing of these posts is interesting with the new Senate bill S.1035, which wants to make the H1-B system unworkable by citing the example of such Indian consulting firms. One of the pretensive solution of this bill is to stop such exploitation by Indian consulting firms.

macaca it does make sense. This si what they are doing...opening up the flood gates and allow for a flood. from this flood they will be able to easily approve 40k cases.
once that is done they will shut the flood gates so that the level starts moving towards equilibirium...with labor substitution ending on july 16th ...the 70k backlog elimination labor aps will be done quick enough.. since many will have redone their LC in PERM..and uscis will have an accurate headcount of people in line from this floodgate opening process.
i dont think we ll see retrogression back to 99... but maybe more mangeable levels

No I'm not, I am in no way associated with them, and I could care less. Yes I know how to stand on my feet thanks. This is not a time to divide people.
Any better sugegstions for immigration lawyer then? Or do you just keep trashing other people, without giving any genuine ideas.
"Could you update your profile before drafting your plan"
I'm EB2, with approve I-140.
I gave you a genuine idea to go and meet your lawmaker. You ignored that.
Why can't you speak for yourself and stand on your own feet. Are you illegal in this country?
If you still want to do more, then contact IV and volunteer with them or help them. Do not try and become someone's agent to increase their business. Stand up for yourself first. This is what I learned from this website.

Wow!!! I wish I could have attended this mesmarizing rally experience. Now can you guys come up with more data on who (Rally member) met who (Law makers / Media Persons ) and how those meetings were and what opinions you heard at least verbally. What we could successfully conveyed particularly to law makers etc...
While we need to collate all the lawmaker meetings data, PLEASE DO NOT post any meeting details on the forum. We do not want to make any of the confidential data public.
We shall let you all know how we wish to collect the information.

Your logic is not right. They are still American companies as they are based and incorporated in the US. Number of employees in India does not matter. It would be different if they had a majority of Indian employees in the US...

"The numbers speak for themselves. Accenture expects to reach 35,000 by the end of this financial year, a 52 per cent increase over last year. IBM already has 53,000 people in India, a 23 per cent increase over the previous year. By the end of the current financial year, Tata Consultancy Services plans to add 30,000 employees, taking its total headcount to 113,500. Slumdog,
You have really taken pains to put this in such an articulated fashion. Even though I do not feel great right now, I cannot stop dropping my 2 cents here.
While we know that all NON GC Holders will stop buying houses for the correct reasons I want to underscore some subtle reasons that influenced this buying spree. It is not my intention to put any one on pedestal. I am just writing what I observed. Not intended at any one in person.
Greed and lack of understanding
Want to make easy money. People think that Real estate value does not fall, just like in the places where they come from, where property has two values, Market value and government value with a huge differential. In the US, the county property assessments are purely based on market value. So thinking that the gains are not going to evaporate is lack of understanding of the system coupled with greed.
Do I/We really need a house?
Not many of the troubled home owners might have asked this Q. Had if they asked this Q, things would have been a lot better. The discussion of buying vs renting was almost gone. Every one held the opinion that buying trumps renting.
Save money on Taxes
This IMO, is the biggest myth. One needs to keep changing the house every 5 years to have the itemized deduction more than the standard deduction.B T W, If you live in one of the states that do not have state tax, your itemized deduction might not be so big that you will really benefit a lot every year. Hey! It does not matter where you are paying. Either you pay your taxes to uncle sam directly so that the govt can run fine or buy a home and contribute to the economy. In the end Govt gets the money. Biggest lie propagated by Realtors. Look at the amortization tables of your mortgage to find out.
Bad Realtor
Giving cash back to the buyers and trying to sell every damn home. When I buy a home, I will refuse to take the money from the Realtor off the bat. I will make him/her work and find the right home I want and would not just buy a home in a day. Easy money for the Realtor and a bad home with a bad loan for buyers. There are people who went out on the weekend and signed a home and told me at work on Monday.
DINKS So we are good
DINKS=Double income no kids. So what? That is now. what about six months from now? Are there going to be any life changing events? We cant predict every thing but it is NOT difficult to forecast whether a family is going to have a kid or not and what kind of financial implications will such events have?
Peer pressure
Lets take fictitious families R & S living in the same rented community with similar back ground. Mr and Mrs R decide to buy a home and they buy one. Mr S does not think it is right for them to do so. How ever, Mrs S pressures Mr S into doing so. Believe me this happens all the time.
Down payment
There is a reason why 20% down payment was a norm in the mortgage industry for a long time. 20% down payment keeps PMI and the high interest rates on your secondary loan away. I know people who are burned because of PMI and interest rate on second loan. Such down payment will keep the monthly EMI affordable and leaves out gimmicks.
I can understand taking a second loan on the 10% down payment, but people were let go with 0% down payment leaving them with a bad loan and a bad home. Some people bought the home they wanted, but the price was too high. Thats all they are left with.
As President O said, we collectively failed to take difficult and correct decisions even though the greed and deception can be attributed to some people on the wall street.

Perfect timing.
Nola - Do you have any recommendations for a fuel belt?. I need one of these really soon. I need one which does not bounce while running and has enough space for 20 oz of water, a cell phone, keys and something that is really light.
Hi Santb1975,
I have been using the 4 pack fuelbelt for the past 6 years. It has holders for 4 plastic bottles each of which hold 6ozs of fluid. There is a pouch in the front or back in which you can carry 2 or 3 power gel packs (for instant carbs/energy) and you can carry some Tylenol or Aleve if you need it. I clip my cell phone on to the belt itself along my sides or back.
The 4 bottles contain enough fluid for me to run a half marathon. When I did the full marathon, I needed to replenish the bottles around mile 17 or so.
I recommend carrying gatorade in the bottles as opposed to just water. Gatorade helps with electrolyte replenishment.
Of course you can also carry your ID, some cash, house or car key in the pouch. I also purchased a shoe wallet, the clasp of which can be customized with your name, address, the name and cell phone for emergency situations. I usually carry my id, credit card, cash and 1 key in this shoe wallet. It clasps through your show laces with velcro, only about $10 bucks or so.

I am actually very dissappointed with myself. In the post rally MC fluster, I had made a mental note to introduce Logiclife and then give him a flower. But I hear he strongly opposes measures such as this :)
I had also promised to get Macaca on the stage and write with colorful Sharpies on his forehead.
Its probably best I forgot both...
Yes, Logiclife is a bit touchy about the flower issue. But its all good

Thank you sanan, I guess you meant Antibody titer test (immunization test)
