This is truly unfair where country of birth determined who gets an 'Employment' based greencard before someone else. It can only be fixed by eliminating per-country limits.
Yes it is unfair in some ways. Couple of my very close friends (who are also colleagues) --one is of Lebanese Origin, raised in Dubai, and the other, Taiwanese Origin, raised in Uruguay. They are in similar Finance positions as I (though I am a step senior) had the entire process, from the PERM, to card delivery, completed in 11 and 7 months, respectively. Whilst I am waiting the last 5+ years. It can get you down at times, and feels like living in a constant state of "temporariness". However life does go on :)

Finally I am a US citizen after being 10+ years in this country. This is one of my biggest fulfillments and it means everything to me. US is just not home anymore for me, it is my country.
I wish everyone the best and hope they get GC very soon.

I agree. These ETFs are too risky. With so many pros in the game nothing is easy nowadays. As you had mentioned in one of your post, the market for individuals is as close to gambling as it gets.
If you cannot make trading your profession then Invest don't trade. Or trade options where you don't have to watch tick by tick.

Can we discuss just immigration 365 days when we are the only ones doing it and policy makers dont care about us? We will go nuts doing it. What is the harm if we all discuss other stuff. Letting h4s work in "non specific-skilled jobs" may actually work against us because they will be in direct competition with local people in those jobs and anti immigrant will be against it. I guess porting to h1 from h4 can be a good option and a feasable option.

Quite honestly I think the best value from an MBA is derived from the timing, i.e. where one is in his / her career. I had a B Com (Accounting) from University of Sydney, an American CPA, combined with 10 years of work experience whilst enrolling for the MBA. I knew ahead, the curriculum wasn't going to bring added technical knowledge, however, it did bring some new ways of approaching the business community. Having the opportunity to sit in a class room and share / hear experiences from some of the successful executives does broaden the thought process. The program also helps build / expand the network. Again, I didn't feel I learnt something groundbreaking on the technical aspects of accounting / financial analysis, or the everyday business etc, but I wouldn't say it was completely useless. Plus for some reason, the "tag" does help.
BTW, I'm not sure the background of those who provided you feedback. My sentiments are shared at least by 3 good friends. One is a Wharton Alum and the other two, from University of Toronto. All of whom had at least 14 years of work experience, and were Canadian Chartered Accountants at the time of enrollment. The feedback could vary depending on the backgrounds.

One has to remember that the famous "AC21" is also a memo! My only concern is that we need to have a really good reason why we think AC21 is legal, and should be abided by, by USCIS, but the latest "E-E Relationship" memo is not legal, or is unjust...

Why is the above important? Because it's a window into their mindset. Like any responsible corporate firm they wanted to sound a little empathetic but didn't want to give false hopes by saying a reversal was possible though they probably knew the outrage among potential filers who had been dealt a nasty blow below their belt. But VB disaster was one issue where there was not even the slightest doubt that what had happened was horribly wrong and cruel that even some cold-hearted anti-immigrants were confused for a day or two and didn't know what to say because they didn't want to pile on our heartache. The way CIS works had, like any bureacracy over time become a cold and heartless beast but since they deal mostly with non-citizens who have little rights and feel so unsecure and unwelcome in the first place to ever speak out, they were never going to know how their actions are wreaking havoc on their customers lives. So unless affected people come together and act they are never going to know how bad it sucks to be on this end of the divide. And ofcourse it's not all CIS - they are just an arm of the government carrying out the law. it's going to be next to impossible to do anything without congress stepping in. And while Fragomen is definitely not lying when they say they will work for some relief and probably are given that their partners often show up on congressional hearings, they won't lose sleep over it nor will their passion levels be anywhere near that of those who are directly at the receiving end of this current ugly messi.e iv and it's browsers. Can someone work for company A (with green card pending for 8 years) and start green card process thru other company to port to EB2(part time employment). Can they do that. I mean basically working for two companies until you get your green card, then quit company B and continue working for company A. Did anyone do this? Is this a possible scenario?

I-485 is mostly about the eligibility of the individual (like medical, illegal presence, fraud etc.) and so getting rejected at I-485 stage is not that common (especially after the approval of the underlying immigration petition). And if it does get rejected, more often than not, the individual may never be eligible for permanent residence due to the same reason. So usefulness of H1-B as back-up is of very limited narure.

I have a labor certification approved in my name. Does all this mean that if this new law gets approved and I have not yet filed for I-140 I lose my labor and the possibility to file for I-140? Or would I still be able to file ? I am confused.:confused:
