I live in LA and sent my renewal application to NSC on April 1st and reached on April 2nd, but they forwarded my application to PHX. Arizona, then check cashed and recieved reciept in mail on April 21st. it took 21 days for me.

On May 3, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS.
Application was at NSC. Last SLUD was in Sept 2010. No RFE on either 140 or 485.

Thanks for the update! How about having two cases; a second LC under EB2. In that case can both prevail together (and EB2 and EB3)?
MANY attorneys STRONGLY ADVISE not to file MULTIPLE 485/CP simultaneously.

FYI we never us the terms like EB2 or EB3 in our meetings with lawmakers.
Pappu, don't mean to argue with you. This could be one reason why DOS/USCIS spilling over all the Visa's to EB2. I do not know how to phrase it. USCIS took U-Turn on spill over after IV started pushing. I know your (IV) intention of benefiting the entire community. But every effort resulted in EB2 getting all the help. Otherwise how DOS/USCIS does not consider 2001 EB3 for spill overs? If it was law enacted as part of AC21 in 2000, why USCIS delayed implementing it till 2007?
EB3I's. We are around 60000 (60K). If you really want to make an impact, at least 1/4 of this 60K which is 15 K should pay just $100 (one hundred) to IV for lobbying which will will total $1.5 Million. But every one should pay. believe me, some thing can be done in Lame duck session with this kind of money. Otherwise, keep renewing EAD (340.00 per person) and AP (another 340.00) every year. Or pay just hundred dollars by all the 15000 EB3I's that are waiting.

Can't pick stocks in this Volatile market, but one thing is certain the markets will be volaile for some time now. So I suggest be long Vega. Pick a stock where the implied vol is higher than historical vol (you will find plenty. Eg C) and put on an option straddle. Sure to make money.
This is not a day trading strategy but a derivatives trade.
Please also recommend stocks for tomorrow...

I am a new member on IV. Haven't contributed, haven't send flowers or thank you cards, haven't volunteered for anything. In fact, I had not even heard of IV up until a month or so back.
However, as I read about the IV efforts in response to the July fiasco, I realised there are a lot of people out here on IV who are doing a tremendous amount of work, work that affects me as an individual positively.
At the last minute, I decided to drive down from NJ. My wife has never ever been on any immigration forum. But she was all for it. We thought it would be too late to get on the NJ bus and drove down.
ME AND MY WIFE ARE VERY PROUD OF IV AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT MADE IT TO DC. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!!!!
For the first time in my life, I have stood up for anything. I am from India and I hate to say it but for far too long, most Indians I know have been shy/meek/lazy about standing up for what we believe in.
Hats off to all the IV volunteers, people who came in and worked over the weekend, people especially who flew into DC, people who came with their kids!!!
PS: Disappointed in my fellow East Coast ppl for no turning up in more numbers

This is good and healthhy discussion except for few who dont want to think beyond today's goal.
As someone has listed already few advantages of citizenship.
I would like to add that GC give you freedom in terms of the Emplyment and Residing in US. But it also has very strict criteria how you live in this country. You are no free with getting GC. Giving some points
You need to carry your GC all times with you.
You can be deported out of country if you dont report you forget to report your address changes.
You can be deported out of country for very small crimes such as DWI, shplifting etc.
Most of the states and federal govt dont emplyee non-citizens.
Several goverment benefits are not available to non-citizens
You can not be out of country for more than 6 months. And also not multiple time.
You need to able to prove that you ahve permanent ties to this country all the time you travel outside. (irrespective of time frame)
I am sure some other members can add lot to these points.
So in nut shell GC and Citizenship are totally different.
GC will just give you freedom from your employer. I am sure in long run you will also realize that your that freedom does not help you too much. May be a little bit if you are with consultant or IT field.
There is no harm in thinking ahead and thinking about citizenship. Those who will be satified with GC, does not need to worry about this discussion as they are no more interested in this future benefit.
Also there are lots of reasons that can be listed, why law makers will be interested in the advancing Citizenship benefit for HIGHLY SKILLED IMMIGRANT who is in the country for long time, has contributed to the Federal Taxes for five years, has good skills in STEM areas and has to suffer in comparision to Family based or marriage based applicants in terms of Citizenship. You can see recent advance of OPT for STEM graduates as small justifification for such hope.
So lets continue this discussion, and comeup with good demand list and supporting justification , in terms of Citizenship benefit for highly skilled immigrants who get GC based on emplpoyment.

My employer filed my EB3 PERM on 65th day after starting the process with a job bank posting, and after filing with DOL it took 11 days for the lawyer to receive the approval.
My employer filed Labor 90 days after the job posting (6 months after I initiated the process, this is after being screwed by my previous employer for 2 years)...Labor was aproved in less than 45 hours!!!

The fact is that most of Pre 2004 EB2 lot is already out of the system. Those who are still in are sufferer of namecheck and BECs.
That's simply incorrect. Since EB-2 India was held up at Jan 2003 from Oct 2005 to June 2007, most EB-2 filers from 2003 and 2004 are still very much out there and waiting. You have to remember that most 2003/04 EB-2 filers from California/NY/NJ/WA were rotting in BEC. High demand states have not approved any labors with 2003-2004 PD's before 2005 when BEC started to approve them. But this was too late as dates were already retrogressed, thus for almost 2 years there was build up for 2003/04 EB-2 cases. I know a lot of them personally.

I got greened today, surprisingly. Could anyone let me know what are the good numbers to reach a human in USCIS, hopefully with less wait time. I wanted to check with them what address they have on file. I filed an address change in JUne but I am not sure if they have it right in their systems. Also, is there a way to get this information without calling them.

They will not answer that. If you have filed via AR-11, you can assume it goes into their system instantly. I was in the same situation. I change my address in November, docs delivered in Dec came at the new address.

Just wait for 6- 7 weeks after online filing...It should be at ur doorstep. Unfortunately no tracking facility. Only thing you can track is that is in their system by using the online File No that would have been generated during online filing.

Please avoid posting any name of any consulting company on our forum either advertising their services or websites to find such companies. This is not a job board or area to list employers if you are unhappy with them. We have been deleting posts by members naming companies or websites to find consulting jobs. We have also had some anti immigrants on our site, fishing for such employers and to quote your posts and IV name in their lawmaker meetings and media materials. If someone is responsible for the current state of affairs in the H1B area , It is Indian firms . The H1B1 was started in 'GOOD FAITH ' by United States to help people from "all over the world" to come in and work in the US , but large Indian IT houses have overexploited these loopholes so much that we are currently in this sorry state of affairs . In their greed for higher and higher profits(every Indian firm hits 30% profits every quarter ) they have spoiled a perfectly working program a few years ago to such a state that now getting an H1B has got less nothing to do with talent but has become like buying a supperlotto ticket .Below is a very good article from the "Economic Policy Institute " that highlights the fact that 2 well known Indian firms have single handedly lapped up 65% of H1B visas last year and have applied for just 69 green cards . Thats a GC application rate of 0.0004%. i Cannot help agree with the facts in this article. I totally agree that firms like these which abuse the system ought to be severely punished and blacklisted, so that geniunine US companies can get their required workers , when they need them . Sorry I must be mistaken - I thought this was a ETF/stock discussing thread. But found that this thread changed into something for bunch for 5-year-old girls discussing merits, demerits of certain sectarian groups.
Anyway, If this really is stocks' discussing thread - I personally like dealing with regular, double triple ETFs. I played with options once, but they are risky for me. YMMV.

Just back from an Infopass appointment.
The lady was friendly and chked the status of my application. First she informed me that it was under review and then she told me that on Aug 3, it was assigned to an IO. I didn't ask any further questions as the news that my case has been assigned to an officer made me happy. I just wished her a good day and left.
Now, I'm beginning to wonder if I shud have asked more questions such as about Namecheck, FP etc...But I donno its with an IO and I guess I'll know the actual status shortly.
