Here is my general suggestion. We have a lot of examples to learn from.
A desi consulting company will pay lesser, may not offer challenging work, and may have some weird restrictions in place. On the plus side, they are relatively more stable than American consulting companies when it comes to green card processing as the liklihood of layoffs are lesser.
People on H-1b should not be out to switch employers for a little extra money. Instead, they should look at the big picture and ask themselves what they want. If the GC is in mind, then plan for it now...not when your 6th year is just closing. If there is no interest in the GC, then you can chase money and join the one who pays more money. However, in many such cases, H-1s have eventually changed their minds and pursued GCs, but valuable time is lost as a consequence of not knowing what they really want.

Your other thread about soft lud updates (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15916) is very similar to this one. It's one thing to not search for similar threads and quite another to open 2 similar threads on the same topic.
After about 28 threads about LUD updates during the July VB Fiasco, we know by now that the USCIS approves cases ad-hoc and not everything is FIFO. We also know that LUD updates mean ABSOLUTELY nothing. Suddenly we have seen older I-140s getting soft LUD updates. It means absolutely NOTHING. I know it is a bitter pill to swallow, coz ur heart is telling you that MAAAAYYBE there is something here, but unfortunately there is nothing there.

Guys, this is another great reason of why to change your mind and ATTEND THE RALLY! Let's force CNN to put us on their screens and laugh in Lou Dobbs' face! We can at least reply to his lies in a forceful yet peaceful and educated way (something he isn't!)
One thing I don't understand is how come this guy used the words bastard, communist china(all the time),cheap labor for computer programmers and he is so full of himself. Why does he have problem if US borrows flights from russia to transport vehicle?

Thanks a lot. This is more in depth and I am not understood how these things work.
So if I have MS+ 0 then I think I have to post my ad for JobZone 5. In that case, my SVP will be 7 because MS = 4 yrs and 0 expr = nothing. So i will not exceed SVP 7.
So is the combination,
JobZone 5 with an SVP 7 will work for MS+0.
Also for a software developer or related work, i don't see JobZone5. What kind of positions suit for JobZone 5 in software developers world ?
Anybody know about these things ? please drop in your thoughts

As per the last revised visa bulletin, the extension period for filling I-485 is Aug 17. But it talks about only I485 and not about I-140.
So can anyone confirm, if one can file I-140 and I-485 concurrently from Aug 1 to Aug 17.

Yesterday i got the mail from USCIS stating below. "My PD Dec 2006, INDIA, EB2 (I GOT MARRIED AFTER I APPLIED FOR I 485, SO MY WIFE IS NOT YET IN APPLICATION. I AM WAITING FOR DATES TO GET CURRENT FOR ME SO I CAN ADD HER INTO MY APPLICATION"
I dont know whether its a good sign or bad sign. I scanned and send this letter to my company and attorney.GURUS and EXPERTS pls help me!!!!!

I just checked with my Lawyer. I am a July 2 receipt guy and my 180 days got over. Currently my wife moved from her H1B(not stamped yet, she moved from H4 to H1) to EAD and I am still on H1B.
My lawyer says if I am on H1B and she is on EAD it will create issues when our EAD goes for renewal. She claims I also should change my status now to EAD. I thought staying on H1B was safe and now I get this response. I told her so many people I know have done the same thing and she is asking if I will jump into the well like others:))).
Please advise
It is generally advisable to remain in H1 as long as possible. Your attorney does not seem to be providing right info. No, there can't be any issues when you renew EAD. EAD have no dependence on H1 status.

If I'm not mistaken, the 485 processing times for TSC are much shorter compared to NSC. My case is at the VSC which is still doing 06 applications. Is there a particular reason behind this or is it just the sheer number of applications that VSC receives?
I was just looking at your PD (Jan 08 - Eb2 - India) and was wondering how were you able to apply your I-485. Any political source? :D

Whoever has already attended FP, did the FP officer ask for 485 receipt also along with FP Notice.
I received FP Notice, but didnot receive receipts. I have the FP appointment tomorrow.

My previous H-1B expired on 06/17 and I applied my AOS on July 2nd. After I sent the AOS, I got my H-1B approved for 3 years. My lawyer told me that they will have to send it in the future if there is an RFE.
