the fact that you move using AC21 and use EAD for work nullifies your H1 immediately and the dependents lose H4. even the date on I-94 becomes meaningless.
you will have to renew your EAD for work and AP for travel.
The fact that your I-485 is pending is all that is needed to keep you legal. But if for any reason I-485 is denied you will be out-of-status.

Everybody please post the names of attorneys who are easy / not easy, safe / not safe to deal with. People can post the names of the attorneys and a brief description (without specifics) about the problems / happy endings, they encountered. This could become an excellent review post for immigration lawyers. we could also maybe put 3 or 4 criteria to score them from 1 to 4. for eg:-
availability to answer questions
timely filing
acurate filing (with all documents)
current with legal provisions and latest changes
overall easiness to work with
cost
etc etc
Experts pls join in to fix the scoring pattern. We need to know the crooks and the good samaritarians out there.

I was employed by company A between 2002 who has filed I-140 and I-485 in 2007.
After company ceased to exist, USCIS granted an H1 extension based on an approved ALC filing and I moved to company B. According to the owner of company A, it has no plans to file for bankruptcy.
Company B filed for the H1B extension and I received one that expires Oct 2012. However, company B is now unwilling to continue my employment. My employment will cease Nov 2010.
Besides looking for another job, anyone has any inputs?

This appears to be more relavant given the need for rejuvenating the state chapters. Why not we have this as simple links on the main page itself and make it damn easy to join the chapter. The most important thing to do is to have the members join the chapters and have the contact numbers. Once these are there the IV state chapters could follow up and get the activities rolling with these members.
Bottom line: Have the state chapter joining links on the main page and have it simplified for the members to join very easily ( kind of taking the name, contact number and email and nothing more) later the chapter core could get in touch with them and get the complete profile. A kind of marketing gimmick.

My wife is on H4 and with recent events, we applied for EAD. Our EAD was approved a month ago. I recieved mine but my wife did not. When checked with USCIS, they informed I have to wait for 30 days.
It would be great if the group can share thier experiances or has any advise on this issue?

As a home buyer or even as an owner you should be aware of this. But I am a bit puzzled by this story. Usually the title insurance that you get at the time of buying home is supposed to cover any such issues. In this case may be they did not get title insurance or their title insurance didn't cover enough amount.
Also as a home owner, if you get some work/improvements done at your home by a contractor make sure you get a signed declaration from him every time you pay him. The declaration should say that he has paid all his workers their dues and that he will be responsible for any payment disputes arising later if any.

If she goes out of the country and enters back using her H4 stamping, she will be on H4.
If she intends to work, she will have to either apply for Change of Status from H4 to H1 or needs to go for H1 stamping and enter US using that stamp.

Hello,

Hypothetically, if my I-140 gets processed after Feb-2009 and is denied (God forbid!), then will I be able to extend my H1 visa? If so, on what basis can I do it?
I do understand that H1 can be extended only before 6 months of expiration if and only if I have a I-140 pending or approved.

He was in Michigan for a while and he went back to India and it�s been almost more than 7 years since he left but now he wants to come back to Michigan.
If anyone knows any consultants in Michigan would be perfect since I already have a job lined up (verbally) through my contacts but I am not successful finding an employer who can sponsor H1B for him.
