I am living in US and am currently on AOS (Adjustment of Status), my mom is staying with me on tourist visa but her visa expires in middle of June this year. Last year my father expired and my mother is incapable of taking care of herself alone (she is suffering from pysio frania which basically means she fears strangers and repeats stuff) so i would like to apply for Visa extension for her. Can anyone suggest what points i should take care of while applying for Visa extension for her? or is there any visa under which i can have stay with me in US as dependent??

I got a RFE for AP issued on July 14th, received by lawyer on July 20th.
They wanted a copy of I-140.

Is there any good news for DB Visa in that bill?
Nothing! This bill passed the Senate a month before they started the CIR. Cornyn introduced the SKIL act and then he immediately withdrew it because he was hoping that it will become part of the future Immigration bill. Later on the CIR failed and we are left with nothing again.

I had the same issue. Because in my passport surname was missing ( not missing but it was added at the end of my first name) that triggered an FNU in H1 visa.
But in my h1 petition it came out ok. and in I-94 i wrote my name correctly. so that was not an issue. and DL and SSN it came out OK based on I-94.
i corrected it in my passport first. then during H1 visa renewal it got corrected automatically.
even though you have FNU in visa, mention your name correctly in your I-94. otherwise every official document(SSN, DL etc.,) will have FNU as your first name. My friend suffered a lot
because of this issue and he had to go back to india and come back with right I-94 and corrected the rest of the documents later.

How do you know that name check and background were completed in October? Did you call USCIS?
i called tsc...talked to an iio...talked to two different ones to confirm and we have an infopass for tomorrow...hopefully they say the same..

I got my GC but my wife's application (based on my 485) is still pending. I think at this point I can switch jobs/go to school full time and it won't affect my spouse's case. Just want to double check on this, any thoughts??

AILA has reported that when Rep. Lofgren issued a letter to Secretary Chertoff, she also disclosed that "It has also come to my attention that USCIS began returning visa numbers to the State Depaartment as early as Thrusday, July 5, 2007." It could be the answer to our question why they are holding July filing cases and why they stopped adjudicating 485 cases for which they pull out the numbers before July 2, 2007. What a mess
can any1 interpret wat this means

Thanks for your reply. what's the continuous employment criteria? Is the reason my attorney enter '5/17' instead of '5/15'?
I have a letter from HR and saying the last day at my previous company was '5/15'. very boring!!!!
I will fell more comfortable if the experience letter mentions the last day as 5/17/2009. Otherwise I will simply mention it as April 2009. This way the continuous employment criteria will be met.

Original employer filed I40 under "electrical engineer" :: SOC Code 17-2071 (approved)
have EAD but never used.
Inside the job description there are entitled strong software background - job duties included programming and software development also. As a requirement a 3year of Software Engineering experience was entitled also.
Situation: Laid off, but received a job offer letter. BUT the position is "software engineer" job code is some 15-XXXX.
Detailed job description/duties will be the same;
Old employer/layer is not revoking anything, willing to help.
Will this stand if they request an EVL or later on the road?
According to my research they not strict about the job codes they more go by the job description and duties.
I'm sure lots of folks are in the same situation, please advice.

so, would you say just waiting for the RFE instead of sending in the exam result with a cover letter. i am afraid that it may get lost. on the other hand, if they delay the RFE by over 6 months, we will have to do the medical exam again. what would you suggest?

There are no guarantees when you are dealing with the USCIS. I was current in April 2005. Approval came in November 2007. Call the USCIS customer service and initiate service request.

I got a letter from Zoe Lofgren's office, who is a Member of Congress representing California 16th District, in response to one of our web faxes on H-1B cap and GC backlogs. Below is the complete text from the letter -- it's heartening to know we are on their radar at least!

Hello Folks:
This long wait for Green Card has made me think about a number of things...
A few days back a couple of my friends have recieved notices from USCIS are sending notices 'Intent to Deny their I-485' w/o any rhyme or reason. Employer says they have not withdrawn their I-140. They said they will appeal but if nothing happens they will go back to India.
Just worried...if this happens to me and I am forced to go out of the country in 30 days, what happens to my US loans. I do not think I would be able to repay back my home & car loans with an Indian salary if I return. In this market I can only sell at a huge loss. I also used US Line of credit for education purposes. Do I need to file bankruptcy? I am on a EAD right now...
Any thoughts on this... greatly appreciate ....it

hello all,
i filed my application on july 2nd to nebraska service center. Now i am filing my wife' application using the new updated 485 form. i sent my application to nebraska service center. i live in florida and in the new form i have noticed that they are asking people from florida to send 485 application to texas service center.
i am confused as to where i should send my application. i am attaching a sheet which asks mailroom to attach my wife's new application to already filed my application ( sent on 2nd july with no recepit ).. i am just confused that if i send my application to texas will it get attached to my primary already filed application... any one in same situation or any insite please help.
