Hopefully you can address the CIS concerns about where you were working by showing that the I-140 is for a future position, and it is irrelevant (for permanent residence) where you worked in the past. However, your past locations are relevant in showing whether or not you maintained H-1B status, and can also suggest that the employer's labor cert for one specific location is incomplete, if it traditionally moves employees around and if it disn't say multiple locations on the labor cert and I-140.. I don't think so....let me explain what happened when I moved from one state to another.
When I was in the state of Washington, they did not ask me for any document like H1 etc. This was 3 years ago. When I moved to PA (mid 2005)though, the DMV asked me for my H1 doc. The date of expiry was alright, but they had other problems.
Since I work for a consultancy firm based in NYC (and the client was in PA), they were not ready to even give me a license (since my employer was based in NY). I literally had to fight with the DMV manager to get my license. And yeah, he asked my employer to provide me a letter that said that I would be based in PA for next 3 years and what my income is (god knows what that has to do with my license)
I was fortunate that my consultancy firm was considerate and finally gave that letter to me even though the contract was initally only for 3 months. If they would not have given such a letter I would not have got a PA license and might have to go to NY to get a license from there!
But the DMV manager did explain to me that this was part of new regulations being implemented since last couple of years.
I have been through this and had to go to the DMV three times before I finally got my license.
And I endured all this while my H1 is still valid for a few years. Imagine the above if my H1 was valid for less than 1 year?
Why are we going through such a painful experience in spite of being 100% legal????

I am kind of thinking of getting a template kind of system where in members can involve and put in their thoughts and once an article ( of some interest) reaches to a final stage and gets approved by the majority it would be forwarded to the news papers / Journals.
I am not sure how much time it takes, but let me try out crystallizing the thoughts towards this end.
Would be great, if few people can join me in this endeavor. PM folks/writers who wish to involve themselves in this process.

If you filed G 28 then both you and Lawyer will receive the copy of RFE. In case you have not filed G 28 only you will receive the RFE copy. USCIS does not care who answers the RFE as long as it is satisfied with the response.
Just want to double confirm, are you sure that if G-28 is filed along with I-485, ONLY lawer receives RFE letter. Can you please point to any official link?

Check with your lawyer. Extension beyond 6 yrs is not available if you are eligible to apply for I485. If you are not able to apply for 485 because of retrogression, you can extend your H1 beyond 6 yrs (of course, it doesnt apply to you).

Yes Sir...I am in the same situation...My Checks cleared on Oct 10, 2007 and I got my receipts on 10/16...Those receipts starting with SRC0800XXXXXX are not available online upto 10/22. But when I check status online on 10/22 afternoon...My and My Spouse EADs are approved and Cards Ordered. But rest of the Receipts still not available online.

This is a great service - It creates a jpeg file from a picture that you upload, and you can choose the "free" option in which you can save the jpeg file with 4-6 pictures in one frame (A 4" x 6" photo can yield 6 pp photos of 2" x 2"), and take it to Walgreens/Costco/Kinkos for a printout for $0.25 each. Otherwise you pay about $8-$12 for 2 photos at the same stores!!
For a family of 4, this equates to savings of ~ $40!!!
The site has all the tools for meeting various types of visa/pp/etc photo requirements for various countries.

Even after spending tens of hours of reading, consulting with lawyers and scratching heads countless times, still the green card process is confusing to most of us on this site. Honestly, its a tedious, intricate process that demands lot of patience, hard work, luck and money.

I guess you need to do some serious reading about the entire process and especially your scenario. Just google, you'll be inundated with ocean of information. Then you may have some idea about the time frames of getting the EAD or GC or Citizenship or whatever. Good luck!

Dear Friend I totally agree with you. I was with one of these employers and have moved away from them. As suggested by some members you can report about these fraudulent activities to DOL. I know it is dufficult to leave these employers as they make the employees to sign bonds and try to capture all the money that they have acquired in PF etc back in the native country.
These employers are to be blamed for the current economy condition of this country and the condition of immigrants like us.
I know there are some members in this forum who will try to shout you down and make you quite.
But I feel if one believe in what is right then one should go ahead irrespective of what others think.

okay thanks for your replies..let me reiterate my situation.
I have an Indian passport and I recently got my conditional GC (based on marriage to a USC).I am currently on a holiday in Australia .I got my single entry,3month visit visa to Australia,which was stamped across"Not valid for further travel" at the Sydney airport.
Now my concern..I need to visit India in Sep and I was wondering if I could leave for India and return to Australia without having to apply for a visit visa again,now that I have my GC.
Do I need to apply for visitor visa again to enter Australia ,eventhough I have a US GC (which enables anyone travel any country without a visa) and Indian passport.
Please help answer my question....
