The Financial regulation bill will go thru for sure, both Dem and Rep parties favor it, however the REP party is trying to resolve certain differences before bringing it to the table.
Both parties cannot afford to be seen as party of Wall street during nov elections.

Could mean biometrics not up to date or just stamp in passport.
Either way they will tell you what they want.

I was in a consulting field with employer taking 30% and me getting 70%.
He supposed to deduct $400 for medical insurance from my paycheck -biweekly, instead deduction was only $200. I never knew that.
My question is why not he acted immediately after knowing the error?
Why should I pay for somebody's mistake?
Am I going to get any tax benefit now?
Why not he deducted single penny in last 2 months before I left?
I didn't sign any paper to pay him back over a period neither did he come up with any plan.
All this proves that he agreed to waive off while I was working for him.
In my view, it is his mistake. I am seriously think that he is lieing to you. First of all, deduction 400$ biweekly is too much. You didn't specified if you have any dependents. If you are single, then he is really lieing to you. I say just file a complaint with DOL in your home state.

Hi desi9333, let me answer your question in general and note that this is not a speculation on the OP's case. A common reason for L1 denial could be that the USCIS determines that the petitioner isn't really in a 'specialty' occupation. For example, if his job description mentions java programmer, then he is more likely to get denied since we know there is a surplus of java programmers in this country (US citizens, LPRs and our favorite H1Bs). Since I was on an L1 visa, I know the purpose was really 'specialty' occupation which means you need to be an expert on something that's not easily available in the U.S.

I really hope they rely on electronic documents and don't push paper from one office to another.

The next big problem will be the delay in FBI name check. With the very little workload they have there are backlogged cases from 2003. It is again like a black box (Hope you remember philly BEC). You can do anything you want but FBI wont budge. And with this extra 200K + applications, the situation would get worse and worse. You really do not want to get stuck here for years. The only thing that works is WOM, and thats not an easy thing to do.
I would strongly urge the core team to consider this as an agenda along with ongoing effort of legislative solution of retrogression (Increasing the number of GCs). I would also ask all the members who were able to file 485 to read some of the forums (Yahoo namecheck tracker, immigration.com etc), and prepare yourself of what is coming. Right now, if you are unlucky, you get stuck, but later if you are lucky, you will get through.
We will win at the end, because we have not done anything wrong. Just keep unity.

Update - and I apologize if this is lengthy, but if any small part of it is helpful to someone else, I won't edit details.
When I got thru to TSC today, I had a really (I mean REALLY!) rude IO! When I explained I'd like clarification about what I was told "previously" (yesterday) that my Biometrics and Photo ID not showing was what was potentially keeping my application pending, she snapped that really I want a case status and need to call the NCSC. She did say that I must not enter my case # and enter phone options 1, 2, 3 and then get the Customer Service rep. to institute request for more information. So I did this.
The NCSC rep I got (Giselle, 649713) was extremely helpful and pleasant. I explained my situation and she agreed that it warrants a request for investigation/further information. She said normally they wouldn't do it because my Received Date of 8/1/2007 was outside of normal processing.
[I've never read explanations on this which were crystal clear about what it meant. So in case others might be confused about it "inside normal processing" means your I-485 Received Date + 30 days. So since TSC is around the (published) 8/23/2007 Processing Date, mine would only fall within normal processing once TSC reaches 8/31/2007 Processing Date]
Rep took all my receipt, etc. details and contact details and read them all back and said I should be contacted within 45 days (standard, I know) via one of the contact mediums - phone, email, mail. Blah, blah - that's all probably completely standard, right!?
Now the interesting thing I noted in the Confirmation # she gave me is that it is suffixed at the end by VSC.... which is obviously Vermont. It could just be an administrative thing because my stuff originally went to VSC then transferred to TSC?? Or could it mean something more than that? Considering the transfers were a mess.....
p.s. in addition, I have moved from East Coast (hence original VSC) to CA - with same company - so I don't know if/how geographical move affected anything. I did confirm with local office IO and TSC IO that they have the correct address on file.
Regardless, the satisfaction (??) I got from this recent fiasco is that it will actually force someone to look at my application and hopefully correct something if it is amiss. Might be wishful thinking on my part, but it means someone has to LOOK at it, instead of me feeling like my app. is just sitting gathering proverbial dust when something was supposed to have been actioned. And perhaps get at least a pre-adjudication thru as a result......

The maximum duration of a J-1 is 7 years but the visa is issued 1 year at a time (royal pain). Therefore there is nothing such as a transfer. When residency is over, if you get a fellowship the program files with ECFMG the necessary papers to prove that it's an accredited program etc It is ECFMG that sponsors you not your program/hospital. Each year the program informs ECFMG on your progress and based on that a new sponsorship for another year is granted.
After my first fellowship i was board certified. In order to specialize further I (and my new department) had to convince ECFMG that there was some merit in the whole proposal. anyway long story, they did sponsor me and I did another 2 years thus completing the entire 7 year period.
As for GC, my employer just started the process and insisted on choosing an expensive corporate lawyer they have worked with before. She is in no hurry and I don't know when I will even have a priority date let alone a GC. This is after 11 years here. such fun....

...but could be due to unavailability of visa numbers for EB2-I in September. So even though the ported PD of Nov 2004 is current in September, the October visa bulletin has clarified that the EB2-I numbers were actually exhaused in September. See below:

With regards to the 485, are these dates the dates our applications were received at the center? (which for almost everyone who filed in the jul 2007 fiasco would be prior to Aug 17, 2007).
Or is this the notice date?
My notice date is much later, end of Sep 2007 but the date it was recweived at TSC was around Aug 15.

I have one labor subsitution(PD EB3 Dec 2004) done before July 16 from another employer.Now I filed my I 485 with June 2006 PD and approved I-140 under perm with my current employer.Now my question is can I apply I-140 with another employer who has labor PD EB3 Dec 2004 with my pending I-485?
