IV makes a public announcement of its advisory board today. These advisors have been associated with Immigrationvoice for quite some time and we have decided to make the names public after they gave us permission to make their information public. Some more names will be announced in the near future if others associated with IV agree. These are top leaders in administration, industry, research and advocacy. We have been happy and fortunate to have them with Immigration Voice. We thank all IV members for supporting IV due to which we could make IV a nationally respected organization and a voice of legal high-skilled community. I did the same cruise with just Drivers License.
As ship travels in US waters no need to have VISA Stamping...
Unlike Alaska cruise ships leave US waters and enters Internationa waters, so you need VISA.

I had a similar experience a long time ago with Madras consulate. At that time, the Officer returned all my documents back without an explanation and hardly asked me a questions. After 2 weeks or so - they send me a letter asking for copies of the all certificates to be submitted along with a letter saying that the case was being reffered to a AFU - Anti Fraud Unit. I send all my education certificates.
It then took them around 3.5 months to clear the application. They asked me to send the passport back with the application copy and I received it with a week with my H1 B stamp. Applied first in June first week and received the Visa around Sept.
This is obviously a traumatic experience for you. But you will be alright once they verify.
In my case, the educations documents were correct and true and it was verified - I do not know how they did it. It is a slow process and you ask for help from a local senator or your company to send a request letter to expedite the case and constantly follow-up with your lawyer who filed the H1 petition.
Also I had a valid B1 visa but I decided it was better to wait for the process to complete before I returned.

depends if u are india or china.....u shud only do EB2.
Even for Rest of World - EB2 is btter...with MS + 2 is may be close but u may be able to qualify..with proper experience letters and recommendation letters.

This due to increased fee coming to effect after July.
The increased fee went in on July 31, 2007 and as far as I know, no relief in fee was provided to naturalization applicants unlike I-485 applicants till Aug 17. Still many naturalization applications were filed in Aug 2007.
Looks like the I-485 wave swept the naturalization applicants too :)

I am never happy with my footer and still am not happy with it; I wish kirupa allowed music because transition effect like the ones in my footer went to a techno track but I took it out before I published it :*(, so I will most likely update it later today and a totally maxed out version on monday. I called Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - -800-919-1754 (with a cost of US$7.00 per call payable by Visa or MasterCard) and checked up with the customer service with my petition number whether he could see my petition details in his system. He told me that he could see my petition details in the system. And, I asked him whether that information is from PIMS? But, he told me that he is not sure what system is that but he could see my petition information.
Does anyone have thoughts on this ... ie., MY Petition information is available in PIMS right now? If so, when will I get the passports stamped?

I came to know of a case where this gentelman who has PD of Nov 2002 EB2 has his case pending at Nebraska for a really long time. His Name check and other formalities were cleared and no body was sure the reason for the hold up. He had numerous infopass appointments as well as written to various lawmakers etc... After getting tired of doing all that he decided to take 15 days off from work. And do you know where did he go:
He went to Lincoln, Nebraska.
The story goes that every day he would stand in front of the office and he was turned back but he continued to sit in the lobby requesting to see the director. Finally his persitence paid off. On 15th day he was granted half an hour with the Director and he presented his case. In few hours he saw his 485 status changed to approved.
So the persitence really do pay. I don't know the name of this gentleman but if you are reading this post please provide some more details. Hats off to you.

my h1b expires in october 2008. my passport expires in july 2007 and at the POE (Dallas), i received an I-94 till July 10th 2007.
i now have a new passport and went to the dallas/fort worth airport CBP to get the date corrected to october 2008. i took my I-797 with me and showed it to them. they said i have to file an I-539 with USCIS. several people managed to get the same situation remedied at a CBP. has anyone had success at another texas CBP? please help!
It seems from past experience CBP will only due correction when mistakes were made by the CBP officer at the airport ,since this is the case of passport validity i think u may have two options.
1) go outside the country and get a new I 94
2) file i 539 cost around 195 USD
I would also suggest to try the local USCIS office where in they could help is some way.
Mind you CBP officers are not uniform in their actions ,i believe in your case u have been unlucky. I remember i was in a similar situation where in visa stamp was expiring after the passport expiry date but i was given a I 94 with expiry date of the visa stamp rather than the passport expiry date.

If you reappeal I think until the decision comes you are okay. But I'm
not sure if you can work. Need to check with an attorney.
If your job description need to match the degree you should be fine.
Did you submit a credential evaluation? I think if both of the above
things are okay, you should be through.
If I were you I will contact an attorney, like Sheela or Rajiv who
knows what they are doing.

You compare about 2-3 month processing time from one Center and another 1 year from another service center.
People there don't know how to do the mathematic or what, why keep sending everything to Nebraska still. Why don't transfer from the last person in Nebraska to Texas and have Texas start processing 485 in Queued.
We don't want people get process by Luck! or by paying more money and left other people behind.

My wife's EAD just got approved. Now I have to get her a SSN so she can start working part time. Firstly I should ask can she get a SSN provided her I-485 application is filed and she has a valid EAD ? Any idea how long it takes to get the dang SSN ? I appreciate your help as always.

I guess employer need to revoke unused H1Bs as part of H1B rules. Maybe that is the reason employer revoked past H1Bs to keep their side clean.
I remember reading Murthy bullettin where she mentioned back-wages are an issue if H1B is not explicitly revoked.

My previous attorney also mentioned the same thing. Looking at this thread it seems all soft/hard lud's were generated on Sunday, April 26th. Maybe a computer program flagged these cases.
