Nothing to panic. This is a disaster & the entire world knows about it. Just make sure to take the screenshots of flight cancellation status & few online news headlines. Ask your parents to carry this while traveling to US in future.
For now, try to see there are any other options for them (like booking the ticket via one of those middle-east airlines). If not, just wait till middle of the next week so situation would be improved anyway.
Couple of days delay is easily justifiable under extraordinary situation like this one.

yes it will be funny if any of Exceed employee working in backlog center is also affcted by backlog of his labor application there.

I am planning to attend an Visa interview, at present I am on H4 status.
My case is: Gor H4 in sept 2006 - April 2008, and got stamping
Later got H1 from Oct 2007 to oct 2010, and got stamping
Present Got H4 from sept 2009 to may 2011 and no stamping yet and hence planning to go for stamping
Question 1) But when I am selcting the appontment date it ask's for a question
" Are you applying for same visa class that expired in the last 12 months?" so In my case would it be yes or no?
2) Does H4 and H1 come under same Visa Class?

This is possible. The gist of the rule is:
Once a I140 has been approved, the PD belongs to the applicant. The only situation when this will not work is if the Labor OR I-140 have been obtained by fraud. This means that even if the company revokes the I-140, the PD stays with you (the applicant).
You will have to first get an I-140 approved with the older priority date (EB3). Once this is done, apply for the second I-140 (EB2) along with documents proving your earlier PD (EB3 labor+ I-140). If all the documents are in order, then the new EB2 I-140 will be approved with the older PD.
Since you are working for the same company, this will be relatively easy since they have all the paperwork. Getting the company to file two I-140s is another matter :)

Hello,
I had to go to India due to a family emergency (death in family) in middle of my project. I have a new H1B and went for Stamping at Delhi Consulate on Nov 2nd. I got issued a 221G green form, to which I submitted the document requested on same day. 3 business days later I received a email from Consulate with another 221 G green form asking for all the documents. I sent all the documents via VFS on Nov 10th.
I haven't heard back from the consulate yet. In the mean time, my husband used his contacts to approach a congresswoman who has been involved in immigration cases. She has agreed to take my case with the Consulate. But what I am seeing on the forums is that if Congresswoman write letter to the consulate can jeopardize the case by unnecessarily pressuring the Consular.
It has been little over a week I submitted documents and I see that consulate is usually taking 2-3 weeks to respond. Please suggest if I should have the congresswoman write to the consulate or wait for the it to take the natural process and pray for the best?
Any help/suggestion is appreciated.

So what exactly is meant by this switching? How/What does it affect? Where or how you/company/USICS decide whether you are on H1 or EAD?

But in case of switching from H1b to EAD (while working for H1b/GC sponsoring employer), there is no termination, changes in the employee�s eligibility or change in job duties. So no requirement to cancel H1b.

I am quite glad that I went to NY consulate to get my passport renewed. I handed it in 11AM on Tuesday and I picked up old and new passports on Wednesday at 4PM.

I dont know if this is possible but how about applying for EB3 using premium processing and once it is approved u have ur prority date set to Apr 2004 and then apply for EB2 I140 and ask for the April 2004 priority date.
I am not sure if u can do this, looking forward from others to see if this is possible.
It is possible as mnkaushik suggested. And your employers don't have to revoke the EB3 140 in order to file the EB2 140. You will need to file EB3 first and after it is approved, file EB2 and port the EB3 PD to the new application.

I know a person who came to US on H4 in feb 2004 applied for H1 in the firt week of April 2005,
her Employer who filed for H1 suggested that she would get her H1 from Jan 1st 2006 , so she can travel to India
on that assurance she left for India on September 15 and came back on Dec 28th and
on Jan 1st when she called employer they mailed her H1 copy and the date of Approval is Oct 1st.
Does this mean H1 is Invalidated as per Last Actions Count Rule.
She has been working on H1 since then (not regularly though)
and did not file for H4 extension assuming her H1 is valid. H4 expired on Aril 2006
Has any one gone through the same situation.
Whats her Status as of now, If her husband is applying for 485 what do you guys suggest put on I94 what should her action from now on.
One lawyer suggests she should apply for 485 and and if they raise query come with some answer at that time.

Anyone willing to join the lawsuit should be willing to join by giving full information about themselves and about their application. Yesterday core members asked this question on a thread and only one person out of thousands of people who visited the site said they are interested. Let us see who all are truely willing to join this lawsuit? I guess I should agree with Jerrome because I am going to India 2 weeks from now and My friend who recently had been to India mentioned the same. I have asked the same question to my immigration lawyer, I will post it when I get a reply.
In mean time I have another question, My flight is from Chicago to Delhi, but I have to take a loacl flight from Miami to Chicago, all my international baggage check in's are at the Miami. My question here is should I surrender the I-94 at Miami since I am doing all my International baggage check in's or should it be in Chicago.
Please let me know if anybody had this situation.

How reliable is this Tracker(or any) data? I don't think all the registered people who gets their GC would come back and change the status of their application to 'Approved' in the Tracker. Though its better than nothing but still data is too vague to derive any real conclusion.

Just wondering how many souls are out there in the country with EB-2 India PD of 2004 and earlier but are not here on IV.
Even with a 1% representation ( assuming that 2004 folks such as us are NOT tired to participate in poll), the total number should be some thing like 8000-9000. 1.5 dependents makes it 20K-25Knumbers.
Also I noticed that a lot of people who voted here has their profile listed as EB-3. Did those guys took the wrong poll or did interfiling?
I feel that OCT EB-2 I & C reversal of DOS was a knee jerk reaction to USCIS's random approvals and we should see a good jump's in next few months.
I have 2 files ( Eb3 -I-old + EB2-I-New) and waiting for interfiling. Many people could be like myself here.

I am one of many people here waiting for the date to be able to apply for I-485 because of visa retrogression. I have 3 more H-1 years so I am considering changing a job in category EB2 so the process can be faster (my PD is Jan 2004 with approved I-140). My question is whether this position below can be considered in EB2 or not. To my knowledge on Eb2, it must be more than 5 years experience with BS or MS. I have a MS, but my work experience in US is total 4 years 4 months (intern 10 months in US during MS + 11 months with OPT after MS + 2yrs6months with H-1B).
This is just a part of the job description:
- BS Degree plus 3-5 Yrs experience or MS Degree plus 2 Yrs experience.
