We need to maintain calm in these testing times... Not just for evey member but more so for people who are in the Core teams and doing the day to day activities behind the scene,,,,
We all know we cannot have all ~9000 member working on the issue simultaneously....too many cooks will spoil the broth....so lets play our designated roles..Right now every non core member should just contribute - even $20 is good enough...Imagine $20 * 9000 = $180,000....which could almost match our all time collections yet....
I again request folks to play their role in this moment rather than just sitting idle and waiting for something to happen.....

I'm ready to file AOS, while filling in the forms I realized that I have just one more page left in my passport which is valid for another 7 years.
- If I get a "new booklet" from the Indian Consulate, does it come with the same or different passport number?
- If it has a different passport number, does it affect the AOS application once the AOS has been filed with the previous passport details?
It does come with a new passport number. Also if you have current valid visa in old passport, you always have to carry both passports together. Your new passport will even have a note saying that you traveled earlier on a previous passport. Also the number of your new passport will be noted on your old passport.
I do not think you will have any problem due to applying for a new booklet. Passport is an active document and subject to ongoing changes.
You might want to confirm that with your lawyer though.

If we are claiming to be best and the brightest having high skills and inventing then it is EB1 and EB2 mostly. By law EB3 is mostly for people who have Bachelor degree and hardly any experience in their field to claim as EB2. It does not matter you are masters from Harvard but by law, if your job requires just a bachelor degree then you are doing basic work at lower management. Legally EB3 have no case if they claim to be best and the brightest inventors. All doctors get EB2 or EB1. All managers with advanced degrees get EB2. All Scientists and PhD holders get EB1 and EB2. So EB3 is mostly people who are low skilled programmers or people who despite having higher degrees are doing jobs that do not need advanced skills. There are some exceptions of people who are screwed by their lawyers and employers by forcing them in EB3. These people should fight with their lawyers and employers or change their jobs to EB2. EB3 do not have a strong legal case to fight for EB3 if they claim to be best and the brightest. It is very humiliating but you like it or not EB3 is grouped with EB3 Other Workers that are waiters, janitors, construction workers, Farm workers etc.

I am in the same boat. I see 4 or 5 people postings of this messages.
None one else this forum in this situation. Why not we gather how many of us are affected? Then it will be easier for us to plan and request our case to be included on IV agenda.

USCIS passed a rule that it will start giving 2 years EAD. Inspite of that, several people last year got 1 year EADs or worse, they would get EAD starts dates 2 to 3 months before the expiry of the first EAD just because they applied early..... basically they got a EAD for only 9 months!
How is the situation now?
Recent EAD receivers, kindly answer the following 2 questions.
1) Have you been getting EADs with 2 years validity without any hassle?
2) Is the new EAD start date coinciding with the expiry date of the last EAD?

Nice post, i came to the US in 1996 for my masters, followed all rules to the T and got stuck. I am on my 4th AP and EAD (5th if you consider OPT). I think main problem is that we are trying to solve too many issues with limited ammunition. Start with a single point agenda for the short term...lets say recaptuing unused visas or something that is the least controvertial and focus on pushing it at every available opportunity. Currently we see a new proposal everyday and all they do besides encouraging debate (which is good) is motivate bystanders to distort the issue and divide the group.
Agree with 485Mbe4001. We should focus on recapturing unsed visas. I dont think so we will see CIR this year. Before other groups pushes for Anti h1b or gc laws. we should start somthing on recapturing or removing country cap. OR atleast some admin fixes. I understand CORE is waiting for time to do aggressive campaign but what if dont get CIR this year ? I think We are thinking to play only defensive game here. If some one try to hurt us in H1b or GC bill then we will do campaign. Lets do not wait for antis to start.

My appln with March 2001 cleared BEC in June, so are tons of such applications in my company that cleared BEC with EB2 pD (atleast 600-800 - our company ). Many were stuck from 2001, as my company did not apply for GC bet 2001 Aug - 2004 Oct.

Most of the office hours are from 8 - 5 PM, but some of them are open until
6:30 PM. If possbile take a small break and call. It takes less then 2 mins per call.You always have an optiion to leave a voice mail
