all i am saying is..maybe we need a newer and innovative approach to get our voices heard.. One speaking head ..not a herd!

I have earlier contacted Atlas to verify if they are registered with any state's Department of Insurance. They did not even reply.
IMO, it is better to buy an Indian Insurance. For American insurance, the only way to make them pay is go to court against them but with Indian Insurance, you can lodge claim with Insurance Ombudsman in India which is fast and effective. The only flip side is, US medical facilities might not recognize Indian insurance (though most Indian insurance collaborate with US insurance for claim processing)

I am married too, but i only said that there are other easier paths aswell.
Regarding working late, i am a fulltime employee with H1-B and never came to office before 10:00AM and stayed after 6:00PM and never ever worked weekends. Mine can be an exceptional case, but what iam saying is, your relationship with your manager is important. This can make a lot of difference in your lives.
As long as you deliver what is expected of you, you can even work 4 days a week and get paid for 40 hrs per week.

Also, we get paid for getting the job done not working hard. So just a claim of being the most hardworking "class" of prospective immigrants will not cut it.

I do not agree with the premise that 'IV agenda does not have any benefit for H-4 problem'. Once the larger issue of retrogression is solved, it will solve the H-4 problem also. As a matter of fact, me and a lot of active members are interested in the H-4 issue that is directly affecting us. But I believe that addressing the core of the problem here is what is necessary and that is what IV is pursuing.

Although no promises were made from IV, I was surprised today since nothing was ever said regarding no interest in the H-4 cause when many discussions were in place. According to its own process, if USCIS might be working then this bulletin was not expected. 2 things I can think of. (1)EB3-ROW (From which numbers flow to EB2 -ROW then Eb2-countries) is confirmed empty and thus EB2-ROW is empty too (2) Somehow abrupt decision. If it is no:1 then it is really good news. But if it 2 then it will be bad for EB3-India as EB3-India is the MOST suffered lot during 2002-8. and Per country limit will make it more suffered with this illegitimate forward movement of EB2-India. With due respects, dude, this is one thing an individual should fight for himself, how will some other employee benefit if you sue your employer and win?..
The employers are happier to hire illegals as they can pay them shit wages, they don't have to pay er's contribution of social security wages, no er's contribution of state taxes, no Medicare tax, no workers compensation. Just imagine wont we be annoyed if we can't find a job in India because Nepali or Bangladeshi (no disrespect to these countries) illegal migrants are talking our jobs away from us by working for lower wages.
I do not think small time bad desi employers are hiring illegals. They are doing everything right as per law, it is just that the law is in favor of the employers and the immigration delays further gives them leeway to try their dirty tricks.
Having said that, I appreciate your post informing affected employees on how to file a case. It will be useful for people who have a case against their employers. Please keep us posted on the outcome, I am sure it will motivate a lot of us.

Actually, not all he said was wrong.
We should not support what these IT consulting companies are doing with H1B programme just because we are on H1. These big companies are hoarding H1B visas so they can have an upperhand when dealing with the employees.
My own employer was trying to get as many H1s as possible without having ANY work for them. They sent us all a few emails asking us if we had any family or friends back home who want to come to US on H1. These guys make the H1 applicants pay for the application expenses, then just keep them there or get them here and keep them on bench and almost everybody here is familiar with what happens next.
Think from an American's point of view.. It is THEIR country, THEY make the laws that benefit their society and economy.. they have all the right to stand up against these practices by foreign based companies..
I like his statement "H1B is supposed to be used when there IS a job but no American to do it" What these Consulting companies have turned it into is "There is a person on H1B avaliable If and when there is a job to do" OR worse "There is an H1B holder available, on bench, but no job to do"
I totally support reform in the H1 process with a target to reduce fraud. That will ultimately benefit people like us who will come here on H1B in future.
Please don't fire me for taking his side, I'm not. I'm in favour of market deciding what it needs, but I'm 100% against fraud, and all of know these so called consulting companies ARE indulging in fraud..

In my view, targeting these folks and barring them from sponsorship of H1B's is necessary, and requires meaningful changes to the system, not just increase in fees for H1B sponsorship.

A green card application requires enormous amount of efforts and money from the beneficiary and his/her employer. People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there�s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.
We have been waiting for a decade and continue to wait would it be reasonable to request you for some guidance with regards to the Visa allotment. I request your office to provide some statistics on home many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS.

Nicely but firmly let them know that their one-sided coverage of "Populism" without covering the views of Immigrants provides a biased view to their patrons. Let them know that such anti-Immigrant coverage has the potential of provoking/inciting attacks against foreigners. WWJ would be responsible indirectly and liable if "Lou Dobbs show" leads to such attacks by misguided elements fired by Mr. Dobbs rhetoric.

1) What actions are WWJ taking to provide coverage of the other point of view, in the interests of fairness?

Hi Friends,
I checked my status and havent received any Soft LUD, but I received a FP notice couple of days back. I am not sure what this is for..My PD is Dec 2006 (EB3) and I received EAD/AP/I140 approved. I applied concurrently during the july fiasco and already done with FP on 2007 itself.
Now i am surprised why I need to , go for FP again. I am still in H1 and my EAD is expired and havent renewed.
Can anyone shed some light in to this FP notice ???

Does any one know about any existing law (that has been passed as part of a bill or whatever) that offers whistleblower protection for non immigrant visa workers (H1b. L1 etc)?

Guys it is really upto you to decide how much you are willing to contribute towards something which will change your future. I'm on 7th year H1B extension I pay $200 for my dependents visas. I am going to my home country and I'm paying close to $600 for Visa stamping, plus pain for doing all the paper work, and pain of taking a visa interview after living 7 years here. We don't get anything done then this visa will expire in 6 months, so another $200 for visa, another $600 for stamping, another form & another filing and above all another sleepless night. This is endless, we need to support this effort, please contribute generously.
