I have the similar situation, worrying about not getting receipt before expiration date. I called USCIS, the lady told me that as long as I filed before the expiration day, I'm okay to work. If someone else could call USCIS, get different people answer this question, and confirm this, that will be helpful.

that's what I thought but she has dealt with a lot of bs with all this paperwork so it is nice to have additional insight to ease traveling worries. Thanks!

There is nothing you can do going forward. You broke the law and as such the punishment is more severe than simple monetory fine.
If it is caught then they will cancel your H1b and will invalidate your GC.
If they do not you are good :D

Hi:
I filed on July 23, I-140 and 485 concurrent.
I got EAD on 5th Oct.
I had fingerpring done on OCT12.
Whne Fingerprinting was done, with 2 of my fingers, it gave message
Warning !!!!!!!! Matched (with RED color) . Rest all fingers, it displayed passed with Green color.
Does it mean it matches with some kind of FBI database and Do I need to worry about it?
Please help gurus. I have lost my sleep.

I called the USCIS customer service and was given the receipt numbers for 485,EAD and AP.The application was put in the system on Sep 8th, Saturday. Checks havent been cashed yet.
Check my signature for the details. USCIS seems to be working overtime.

Thanks all.
1) While filing AP online it asks if I want to add more filings. I want to add my wife's I-131 as well. Also my wife is a derivative beneficiary of my pending 485. So, my question is should my wife and my AP supporting documents be mailed in the same packet, even though I will
create 2 separate files in the same packet. Please advise. Else, how will they know that my wife's AP renewal is linked to mine.
2) There is a section which asks for the data of Intended departure. In paper based filing i would type unknown at present time. But in e-file, i cant type that in the date field. Can I leave this field and the length of stay blank ?
3) Part 7 Info for me asks only if my trip is for single entry or multiple entry. It does not ask for any supplemental Info. What is this supplemental info people talk about ?

1. Make 2 sets of documents and send them separately. They would know because you would send a copy of I 485 petition of your wife as well in her packet.
2. You can put some future date in there.
3. It will be multiple entry. You have to write some thing describing the need for this AP.

If you start now and if get ur labor in 2-3 months chances are good for Eb2 that dates will be close to current by end of next year. So u can have EAD.
If congress passes HR 5882 then Eb3 should be current. Depends on company I 140 is not taking more than 1 year average for non concurrent filling.
Assuming some relief to EB community Eb2 will take 2-2.5 years and Eb3 may take upto 4 years. Everything is based on assumption here.
To get GC you need to be in line sooner or later then why not now..

The EB numbers from 2006 also include the Schedule A workers and they were not constrained by the 7% limit. That is why India and Philippines were able to get more than 7%

The managers amendment of S. 2611 does have the provision of filing I-485 even when visa numbers are not available. This provision exists precisely because IV asked for it.

I think what Asian means is that the stringent rule of 'Same kind of job' in AC21 makes AC21 usability very limited. If that condition is abolished, 485 is as good as GC in terms of job mobility.

I had a couple of appointments in Detroit in the past two months. Got to meet with two different IOs, who were cordial. At least told me that I was pre-adjudicated. But refused to dis-close any other info.
Anyhow, got CPO emails for me and and my son on Oct 22nd. My spouse's case is at Detoir office. Planning to go to Detroit tomorrow, to see what's up with his case. Is there anyone, who got approval from Detroit office.
Detroit Infopass officers are laid back, if it is the same heavy lady you had to go to I sympathize with you. She was the most mean govt official I have come across in past 10 years. Her response to me was the details about my case cannot be discussed due to National Security reasons, tried ask another question and was abruptly cut to be asked to wait.

I reviewed the State of Washington's unemployment compensation website, and from what I can see you would be eligible for benefits as long as you were legally authorized to work for the last 24 months and continue to be authorized to accept new employment. I have asked about whether I need to wait for the AP, but my lawyers have said I have to wait until the fingerprinting is done and I have the travel document before I leave..!!! Maybe I need to ring the immigration department again and confirm once again. I keep getting different information from different people..!!
