I agree to a lot of your points - the community has to evolve and not be pushed. All I say is for those who talk the talk, if they walk the talk - they become a good example and the community will grow.
Please do not take this as criticism. I respect everyone's space - come on folks we can collectively do it - why do we want to resist unity? It does no damage to us but only helps us for whatever cause we want to achieve, otherwise we will always be under the radar of people like Lou Dobbs and his likes - just because we are not vocal.
I am sure, one day the community will rise :)
There is moment in history when everything starts falling in place, until then nothing will seem like working right.
But when we reach the critical mass you will see this thing take off, until then buckel up your seat belts and expect the tide to set in soon.

If PD moves to last quarter of 2007 within a year, then there would be no candidates (EB2), since all will still be stuck in PERM audits which will take 6-12 more months to clear + I-140 processing time.
So, they move PD dates faster but freeze PERM apps. I am confused:confused: Any insights?

No doubt, Canada is a good second option, but the standard of living is much better in the US and will always be. The health system in Canada is crumbling and a private sector is growing in parallel. The wait period for surgery (knee replacements etc) is increasing and I don't think the manna will last too long.

A genuine mistake can be corrected using nunc-pro-tunc method. I used to work for a big Indian IT major and they forgot to file my wife's H4 and when I moved to a big 4 firm..they filed nunc-pro-tunc. According to you definition, if any company makes a mistake, we are illegal. LOL.

US economy situation is alarming. I doubt they will consider any immigration related bill until financial crisis stablises.2009 will be the key.Economy has to stablise. If not anti immigrants will block any bill citing the economy as the reason. If unemployment increases every month then any immigration reform is distance possiblity.Illegal immigrants are is getting publicity every year by rally for past 4 years but nothing happened. I am an Indian citizen working in USA as a Software Engineer since June 2003. I have an approved i140 (EB2, PD - Nov 2005) from my previous employer. My 2nd H1B is getting over in June 2009. My current employer has not yet filed PERM application for me. I was wondering, if I will be able to get 3 year extension based on i140 from previous employer once 6 years of H1B are over in June next year? I know that my old employer has not revoked my i140 neither anyone else used it.
Also what happens if Nov 2005 date becomes current before I filed for H1B extension using i140 ie can I still get extension using this i140?

One might ignore land-scams of Naidu and support him. One might ignore fodder scams of lalu and support him. One might ignore the bribery cases on tape of vajpayee's office and support him. Because they have positive changes to their credit. But how does one convince oneself to support the so called human standing on dead bodies waving a flag of development.
Dude we are considered the cream of the crop who think clearly. How can we hand over the reigns of future of our sons and the well being of our daughters to a person who supported the rape and murder to young girls and destroyed livelihoods of thousands.
Imagine our christian friends trying to convince the jewish friends that they support Hitler because he is development pushing leader who is also church going, non smoking and that they do not support the side which actually supports rape, incarceration and murder of thousands who scrap out their living in the country. There is nothing like supporting half a person. You either support all his deeds or you dont.
Let me ask you this. I am a Brahmin and should I hand over future of my children to any other party than BJP? What should I read out of reservations for OBCs?
Let alone reservations, now a days the people who got reservation are controlling everything in the govt. If anything goes against their wish, they are ready to file a complaint. Once they file a false complaint against you. The onus is on you to prove you did not call them backwards or discriminate against them.
So are you saying we should vote for congress and so called reservation supporters and sacrifice future of our children?
If BJP has blood on their hands for not protecting Muslims, Congress too has blood on its hand for persecuting sikhs. Were they not people?
What about the riots after Babri Masjid demolition in Congress ruled states? Why didnt congress stop riots in Maharashtra?
This whole Gujrat incidence is overblown out of proportion.

I agree with vdlrao completely. The horizontal spill over rule essentially gives all EB1/EB2 visa to EB2's. This will make the EB2 cutoff dates leap and bounce forward. For EB3, however, there won't be any spill over data until EB2 become all current.
In Oppennheimer's reply to Ron Gotcher's question, he mentioned that the horizontal rule was set after he 'had consulation with the congress', so it's very unlikely to have any change to this rule till some legislation changes take place.

its not about their feelings or yours... there is a law and IV is trying to change the law by a legitimate process. do not use words like bribe which refer to improper personal payments for benefits that dont belong.

Trust me. I was under the impression that it will be 3-4 years before I see green, but the reality is almost true for me now. Similarly, EB3 folks would get some news by next year. Who knows, the government will change and we have seen how keenly Obama wants a change ;). May be recapturing visas provision will be considered next year and everyone until 2006(EB3) may see some green. We never know. It's all magic and lets hope for the best. :D

-Let us only 100-150 people work on this. More than that is unlikely among us united high skilled immigrants:)
- Send 5 letters every weekend.Send one letter to president and 4 to different senators/House of rep..Not email but regular mail.
-continue on this for next 3 months
( Key is to keep doing this every weekend 3-4 Months)
To start with i suggest on having a separate quota (not counted towards 140,000) for Masters/PhD students. That should ease most of the pain.
If anybody has other bright ideas, feel free
