We are chasing behind so many stuffs at this important time. We should forget about the merits or demerits of point system. It can be good or bad. We should forget about how Z visa holders get more benefit than us. It is something not in our control and big politics behind everything in the bill. Therefore, we should not concentrate on this as it is not our objective. We should focus only to eliminate retro in EB ASAP. We should try to bring a simple amendment to the bill, so that retrogression in current EB ends ASAP.
A simple thing to do is do not change drastically current form of bill. Don�t waste time on analyzing or chasing behind merits and demerits in H,Y,Z visas or all other positive or negative stuffs in this bill.
We should have only one focus. Eliminate EB retro first. For that a simple amendment will be, 242K visa is open to both old EB and newly created merit system. That�s all. This amendment will eliminate the retro immediately. All other discussions and efforts are waste of time and energy

Please consider signing up for monthly recurring contributions. It will be a big help to IV and we can plan our lobbying efforts in the coming months ahead of time.
It seems people will wake up only after they are stuck in the 485 and EAD backlogs and ask IV to do something for them. It will be too late by then. The more we get closer to the presidential election, the lesser chances we have to get any relief. Hope all members realize this truth.

Today, I spoke to a USCI Agent and his supervisor at NSC about my case..
I quizzed them about July 2007 revised visa bulletin etc.
He looked around, checked it for like 10 minutes and said HE DOESN'T HAVE
ANY MEMO. All he said that he has this MEMO which states that July 2007 (original) bulletin ..based on that EB1-3 for all countries are current.
:-) May be NSC approves application :-) as practically NO ONE can stop them..

Try Wells Fargo or Chase. They have been quite good about lending me money for a couple of rental properties.
Also ask them for rebates as they are eager to get business.
Another one I came across was Penfed.org. They may work for you since you seem to be borrowing for a primary residence.

Hi,
My wife is waiting on her H-1B approval. She is on a H-4 currently. The company that sponsored her H-1B is an american fortune 500. This will be her first H-1B and she is in the USA for 11 months now. I have a few questions:
1. To apply for the SSN she would need the original I-797 and the I-94, correct?
2. After she applies at the SSN office, will she be able to see the number immediately (and wait for the card) ?
3. How long does it normally take them for issuing a SSN for a person like her? (H-4 to first time H-1B)?

Got laid off but found a new job and working on EAD.
Status :
I-485 pending over 180 days
I-140 approved and employer will not revoke I-140 and I-485
Received EAD and AP.
Question is now:
1. Do I MUST send a AC-21 Job Portability MEMO to USCIS with the new employer info and job details ?
2. Or, Do i just do nothing for now and will send USCIS a Portability Memo ONLY-IF they issue a RFE?
3. What are the advantage and disavantage of sending a Portability Memo to USCIS after I-485 is pending for 180 days and I-140 approved with previous employer?
I am very confused.

:) Just a clarification around job requirements:
GC is always for a future position, so there is no need for the employer to keep the position (nor to keep it vacant). The employer needs to confirm that the position will be made available to the individual as soon as GC is issued.
If you get the GC and the position is not available, your GC is not in any jeopardy. Once the employer confirms that the position is no longer available, you are free to choose any other job. If you have already waited 4-5 years for GC, the same/similar job requirement also reduces in significance for post GC issued job.
PS: I know a few friends who waited to get their US citizenship and immediately relocated to India! Human mind is strange!! :)

If issue arises with I485 while i EAD, that would a big headache of replying RFE or opening MTR etc in timely fashion. EAD/AP stand cancelled if 485 is denied.
Evaluate the odds of 485 denial and then take a decision (H1/EAD). Just don't get into analysis/paralysis mode.
