I spend lot of time to check status, emails, news.
If I spend the same time in my career, I could have got my GC in EB1 or atleast I could have returned my home with lot better savings & good career back at the home country :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hello,
Last November I quit my job in the US and left the country as well. Two days ago, I received an email saying my 485 is approved, and card production was ordered. The card will go to an address in the US where someone can forward me the mail.
What should I do? Try to enter the U.S. with the card? What to say to POE officials? WIll I be questioned?

If you have AP you will be able to enter into the country without any issues / questions.

Don't worry about the visa...old visa stamping is good to use as long as it has not expired. Make sure you carry all relavent documents to prove you work for present employer. There could a possibality of officers calling to confirm your employment..so make sure you inform your present employer about it.

Yr employer is correct. You can't apply for SSN before OCT 1st as yr H1 starts from OCT 1st. When you go to SSN office, they look at yr current i-94 to find out yr current immigrant status (H1/H4/L1,etc) and if you current i-94 is for H4 then they won't allow you to apply for SSN. I had same exp for my wife. We applied on 2nd Oct in VA.

Recently, I made my own PP photos using http://www.epassportphoto.com/
This is a great service - It creates a jpeg file from a picture that you upload, and you can choose the "free" option in which you can save the jpeg file with 4-6 pictures in one frame (A 4" x 6" photo can yield 6 pp photos of 2" x 2"), and take it to Walgreens/Costco/Kinkos for a printout for $0.25 each. Otherwise you pay about $8-$12 for 2 photos at the same stores!!
For a family of 4, this equates to savings of ~ $40!!!
The site has all the tools for meeting various types of visa/pp/etc photo requirements for various countries.
Most WOLF camera and RITZ camera stores do the same thing for free. I have done this many times. Use a good digital camera and take the pics in memory stick or USB and they crop the photo to the right passport specifications. All you pay for is the print which is $0.25 or less.

I think its not going to be business as usual for H1b holders...nor the employers that sponsored them. I think something is going to change drastically in the coming months...it would be interesting to see what would happen to to the H1b for this FY when they open to doors to accept the application for new H1Bs..

As far as I see, here is an issue related to encoding; you have to know the Encoding of the file (or it's Code Page in order to get the encoding) and after that, read from file using the encoding, like:

Hi Guys i need some advice/help on my I-140 denial.
I have US masters and 4+years of US job experience and My I-140 was filed in EB2 using a Substitution labor which as the education/experience requirements of (14) Masters+1years experience or (15) Bachelors + 3Years Experience and it was denied without RFE saying the Labor certfication used is not suitable for EB2 as they say EB2 labor should be requiring "Masters or BS+5Years Exp", which makes sense.
So what are my options now
1. Can my attorney file an MTR and request the USCIS to consider mine as a EB3 case, if requested what are the chances of USCIS approving my I-140.
2. Once the MTR is filed to convert from EB2 to EB3, what is the present status of my 485/EAD/AP/FP
3. If the USCIS is okay converting from EB2 to EB3, will the same application's applied ealier for 485/EAD/AP/FP are valid or not?
4. My wife has used her EAD and she is doing a full time job, so now as my I-140 is denied and if an MTR is filed in next few days can she still continue the same job until the decision is made on the I-140 and 485.
5. My wife has an H1 also, so as she used her EAD(which came as my dependent) not with the company which hold's her H1, in this case what would be the status of her H1, can she quit her present job and do another job using her H1, is that H1 still valid.

In this case, atleast we know there will be a president of USA, but in case of USCIS no body knows whats going to happen.
about the dates being current, u need to keep on following the visa bulletin every month. If your date is not current then keep on renewing your EAD/AP. Also be ready to do FP almost every other year.
If you feel frustuated join us in the fight.
But if you feel that u have filed 485 and u r all set, then GOD HELP YOU.
Please dont take my post in the wrong way, i am just trying to enlighten you to the world of uncertaintites in which you have entered after filing your 485.

My I140 was approved in Dec 2005 by TSC. The online case status still says it pending. And i just filed my 485 using that 140.

Does anyone know what time it may take for FP notices to arrive for guys whose cases were Xfered to CSC?

Very Interesting set of links. We need to respond to each of these journalists thanking for any positive coverage but also highlighting the specific issues that is causign the backlog (7% per country limit and lack of visa recapture). We need to request that attention be paid to this aspect and how removal of per-country limit is neccessary to eliminate the greencard backlogs (and that visa recapture will at least provide limited relief). Most of such articles praise high-skilled immigrants but do not get to the root of the issue and the possible solutions. We need some folks to help with this IV media outreach. Please PM me if you are interested.
