All the Windows 7 I use are campus installs, so since they're not configurable, I haven't really looked around the settings. Does Windows have virtual desktops yet?

You're getting negative votes on your post just because people here know that Apple will never do that, but I think I have to agree with you. I mean I own the iPad 1 now and love it, but I'd love it even more if I could write on it with a pen. It would be amazing for taking notes. I can't take notes by typing on the thing, I still have to bring a notebook (as in an actual notebook, made of paper lol) or my MacBook.

I've considered it, just to be a show off. Kinda like Eidorian's post above, I'm known as the guy with gadgets and knowledge by friends/family. Whipping out a 40" screen from my pocket wouldn't hurt. ;)

Not again... The database in question is NOT used by Apple to actively track users. It's a local cache on your phone, sent to you from Apple. This database serves a legitimate purpose on your phone to improve the performance of location services.
The issue is that this DB can be used by others (not Apple) to gain in-site into your relative location over time. Technically I wouldn't even call this a 'bug' since it's working as designed. However it is a serious oversight on Apples part.

The secret service might get lucky and stop a terrorist organisation before they do any harm, but they can do nothing to prevent a nutter getting on a plane if he doesn't have any record. It's up to the airport security to limit the weapons available to him on the plane, it's the best they can do.
And it's up to everyone to decide what the 'best balance' is between privacy and safety. One thing is certain - the TSA (or any other airport authorities around the world) are always wrong: searches like this are wrong/if a weapon slips through and is used in a hijacking they're wrong.
Let me give you a REAL scenario. I used to use my laptop backpack to carry my lunch to work and I was at the airport heading out of town. What I didn't know is that one of my butter knives had slid down under the lining of the backpack. Of course I went in security and was pulled to the side where I was professionally patted down. They then pulled me off to the side to further inspect the bag. I told them the story and they allowed me to slip it in an envelope to mail it home.
1. It worked as they did catch a potential weapon.
2. They were profesional about it the entire time (Boston TSA).
3. If you cooperate with them it is generally no big deal.
People that are making this difficult simply like to complain for the sake of complaining. Take the bus....
Put a big, thick, security door between the cockpit and the passengers that can take a stronger blast than the plane's hull.
Problem solved; the risk of a man with a knife on a plane is identical to that same man on a public train or bus.
No ridiculous pat-downs and feeling up of children needed. Allow profiling and leave the metal detectors in place (similar security to our local courthouse) to prevent casual idiots, and have the security door to minimize damage from an organized attempt (if they can't hijack the plane, and can only kill the people on board, it's not worth the trouble; they can just go blow up a bus), and you've got a pretty good balance of security.

I don't understand people who point a video camera at their TV and record it, then upload that video to YouTube. If they can figure out how to connect the camera to the computer, why can't they figure out how to connect the TV?

This would actually look nice, if it was curved. Not in an ugly box/ mini MacBook form. But then again, aluminum does screw up the 3G frequency. Unless it was a better type of aluminum, or mate type of cover. & slimmer (:

Happy Birthday OS X! I made the switch back in '03 when I got my 1.8 ghz PPC G5, running 10.2, I believe. 10.3 came out not too long after I rec'd my computer, and Apple sent me a free copy since I'd purchased my computer so close to the 10.3 release. Been a HUGE fan ever since. :)

I don't think people realize that there are many technical limitations on what can/can't be submitted to the app store. There are some incredible apps, that by their very nature, really can't be submitted to the app store because of how they work and the kinds of things they do.
The Apple Design Awards have been the equivalent of the Academy Awards for Mac developers. This announcement radically reduces the significance of these awards. Hopefully new awards will be created that recognize the absolute best apps available on OSX, regardless of which distribution model(s) the use. Perhaps Macrumors will step up to the plate?

I work in a techie environment. I have my phone on my desk in front of me all day. My colleague happened to mention a guy sitting on a desk behind us and described him as a "know it all" who knows about everything and has done everything better than everyone else.
Anyway he keeps randomly talking to my colleague about crap (which really bugs him as he never starts a conversation with this guy), and I noticed twice in two days he has brought up the subject of his android phone and how my colleague shouldnt get an iphone. Now my colleague isnt the mobile phone type, he has a Sony Erricsson and has no intention of buying any kind of smartphone. Then I realised what was happening, he had clocked my phone on my desk and as I never even look at the guy, realised he was goading a response out of me on the subject.
He sat there for 10mins or so going over the pro's of owning an android before showing my colleague a Tron Legacy theme he had installed. When he finally went away I leaned over and said "pretty sad that he feels he has to justify his purchase by giving a lecture to someone who doesnt even care". My colleague agree'd and thinks these sort of people do it as they are insecure about their purchase.
I have many more true stories about a couple of other similar people who work with me but its sunny outside and I dont really care who has an android and who has an iphone :cool:

Why would you run a promotion on something that sells out the moment they come into inventory? Sales are for Android products that can't be moved any other way.
Perhaps it is something like, "Purchase an Android device and we will let you buy an iPad."

I don't really see why anyone thinks that Apple is not taking responsibility what's going on with the iPhone 4. They are saying that this signal attenuation is a problem, but that's it's not uncommon in regards to cell phones and that other reputable companies make devices with similar problems. This, in my opinion is great PR. They are bringing the topic down to a relatable level where most people can see that it's not because they don't care about the their products anymore or are not worried about maintaining their good image. Does anyone seriously believe they rushed this out just to get some more money without properly testing it? I have spent a lot of time with the new iPhone and have noticed that it performs incredibly well and that the supposed "signal attenuation" issue people blew out of proportion is something I have to go out of my way to achieve. Sure I might accidentally do it a few times in the phones life time, but I already had minor hiccups with the 3GS that didn't make the phone worthless. Honestly, if the phone bothers anyone that much, just get that free bumper. And I believe Apple is offering a money back option for returning the phone.
