I used to work at an apple store until Christmas and we were always the last to know things, we found out when the public found out eg the iMac launch, that's why they don't have the new stuff in stores the day it's announced, it stays in the back with someone who's signed a non disclosure agreement.

What other companies? Seems to me the new "kids on the block" are touting their openness as an advantage vs. the App Store.
If you're going to create an app for THEIR phone I can understand Apple making sure they accept it, but they need a better policy.
I'd say the policy is OK, they just need to apply it much more consistently.

Given the cpu usage problems on new iMacs attributed in part to Flash, its a good thing Apple does not allow this resource hog onto the iPhone or your batteries would last 20 minutes! Adobe or Apple has to address the technical problems with Flash before it can be used on the iPhone or replace it with a different technology because as it is now, Flash is a bag of hurt on all Apple platforms.

Ah - but it isn't as many as 50 % of the gun crimes that are done by black men. This is just racist propaganda from a statistics-generator which has been pre-programmed to disfavour people with non-English names. The next statement will probably be that more than half of the honour killings in the United Kingdom are done by people from Pakistan or Arab countries, which will be just as absurd. In some cultures, it's acceptable (or even expected) to use violence to get what one wants, and we have to tolerate each other as we are. Dialogue and Understanding.

And wow at all the people "finding problems" with OTA updates. Android has been at it for years on many carriers and with many different data caps in place, rooted phones, phones with custom ROMs, etc.. and yet none of those guys whine about OTA updates. The Apple crowd really needs to get with it. It's optional people, it is for Android, no reason it wouldn't be for iPhone.
Options are good.
How can it be a real computer and you cant even turn it on without syncing it to a real computer? So basically to buy an ipad you have to own another $500 piece of hardware to use an ipad. I love my ipad and it has basically replaced my laptops, but its a shame that you cant manage your music, sync your apps or update your OS without being connected to a real computer.

Just got mine - luckily I live down the block from one.
Apparently they said each store only had 2 - got the only 32 GB. Black, not my first choice but thought it would be a while before I got another chance so I got it.
They tried to upsell and bundle stuff with it but I just politely declined. They tried, but I just kept asking if I can buy the iPad by itself and they finally relented. Did take a smart cover though.

I'm sorry skunk, but I'm not quite sure how to explain it any better than I already have. As I stated above, free will is an essential aspect of what the Bible reveals about our relationship with God. I don't follow where you think I've indicated that there is no room for the allowance of independent action.You said: "Man's capacity for altruism, self sacrifice, and compassion are seen as proof of his independence from God. That's the ecology for most of Australia, save the East coast. What population Australia can sustain has long been hotly disputed. But that's not the point. You fly over the Arabian deserts or Siberia in Russina, you won't see a lot of vegetation or people either. Not everywhere is suitable for people, livestock or agriculture. America has a lot of different climates and ecosystems too, including vast deserts. But some of those wide open spaces used to be covered in forest, remember. It's the deforestation of the fertile areas, which are also ideal for agriculture and populations, which is a worry. None more so than the Amazon or Malaysia.
Since the dawn of the PC era, they predicted that computers would cut our use of paper drastically, since we would have little need of it. The reality is vastly different. Our consumption doubled in short order with the advent of the affordable printer. We are far more prone to wasting paper than ever; a tiny typo, or a smudge on the page? Reprint the entire 50-page report. Photocopiers has thousands of students copying entire sets of books from the library. It's easy, convenient and cheap. Rainforest timber is what makes it cheap, alas. iPods and an iTunes Store with eBook functionality, however popular, even if it starts a huge fad in other brands as well, such as Sony's offerings, won't make much of a difference in the scheme of things, and any savings easily eroded by continual growth in consumption.
Well, in the affluent countries, it could affect the printers of periodicals and maybe newspapers if they're all offered online, or if you can go to the newsagency, download Wired or The Times via BlueTooth with an automatic transaction approved with a thumbprint. Who really want to struggle with huge broadsheet newspapers in the train. Good for publishers, not for printers.

Is it for ipad also? I currently have my macbook in for repair, could i update in with my friend's pc who has itunes in the meantime?
it's for iPad 1 & 2 also, you can update via another computer.... when it asks about erase and sync on friends computer just hit cancel

The iPhone 4.. A POS :D that's what it is. And that's not a wild hyperbole. A wild hyperbole would be "it's the worst phone ever, in the universe" Compared to the other iphones, it is. Actually, it sounds as if your exaggerating what I'm saying for the sake of envoking feelings... Which is a hyperbole. :-)
What makes it a piece of ****, exactly? The issues it had early on that were fixed with the software update? It's much more superior in every way to the 3GS than the 3GS was to the 3.
Personally, I've sold my past iphones on craigslist, and bought the new model each year since the 3G, and actually made money from one to the next each time (sold the 3GS for $315, and bought the 4 for $230...or whatever it was to do an early upgrade)...never got why more people didn't do that.
Oh, back on topic...I'll sell my iphone 4 for more than it's gonna cost me for the 5 no matter when they put it out and what they have on it and I reckon I'll be happy. ;)

If Apple holds back on the iPhone 5 for the fall or winter, then I would expect we're going to see a fairly major change in the same basic iPhone4 form.
Personally... I love the idea of them taking their time right now and not playing the "rush" game. One of the things I think will bite Moto, HTC and others is they are always trying to out-spec each other and their implementations are sometimes very flawed or weak.
Give us a strong iOS and MacOSX upgrade this summer and then follow it up with a new iPhone in October and a retina version of the iPad and iPod Touch in the fall and Apple would be on fire for the holidays.
Will ATT have signifigant enough LTE coverage by then? Or would and LTE iPhone only be offered to Verizon?
I would guess that iPhone5 will be duel mode GSM and CMDA... so I would assume the 4G should be able to adapt to either.
