"Jesus the Son of God" derives his very legitimacy through the alleged fulfilling of Old Testament prophecies. For a Christian to "avoid reading the old testament" is surely to deny his paternity.

Excellent point Skunk and I agree completely. Believers should make it priority to read and understand all of God's word, but unfortunately, like anything in life, sometimes we avoid what we find difficult , what we don't understand, or what we don't enjoy.

The sad fact is that many people who profess to be followers of Jesus don't spend the amount of time in the Bible that they should. It's not just an old vs. new testament thing it's a reading and studying the Bible at all thing. I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know as we have discussed it before in other threads. Christians who don't understand or know their faith well sometimes do more harm than good by spreading misinformation. If they would actually deepen their relationship with God through consistent time in his word then they would be a better representation of the truth the scriptures lay out.

However, I should point out that faith is a growing process. The goal is that people will mature in their faith over time as they grow in knowledge of and relationship with the Lord. I am not discouraged by new believers who are just starting out on in their walk with Christ. It's the long time believers who have neglected God's word or chosen to adhere to tradition over revealed truth that frustrate me.

The New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/business/retail_iation_business_tim_arango.htm) reports that Wal-Mart is warning Hollywood studios against partnering with Apple's iTunes Store for movie distribution.

According to studio executives, "Wal-Mart has overtly threatened to retaliate if [studios] go into business with Apple."

While Apple has only signed one movie studio (Disney) to the iTunes store, the early success (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060919142943.shtml) has caught the attention of other studios. One executive is quoted as saying "We all want to be in the Apple business".

The threat of Wal-Mart repurcussions, however, may temper enthusiasm as Wal-Mart controls a large portion of the retail market for DVDs.

    HA HA HA :D

Well, I'm moving in a year, and while its kinda a cool idea, it just makes no sense for me to spend any sort of money when it works fine and looks good as is. I'm not a fan of wall mounts anyway.

I believe Costco showed Apple the door.

This is also what I took from it.

It also happens to make more sense than apple showing them the door.

They probably were unable to secure the kind of discounted prices WITH acceptable profit margins to justify the retail space.

Yes, for the correct address write to:

    Battery Life

    Cupertino CA 90210

BTW: 4.3.1 turned my 3GS white

Odd that it isn't also at 1 infinite loop. Hmmm, maybe this is their 'area 51' of sorts. I feel a conspiracy coming on.

If your going to criticize the grammar your comments should be directed at Apple. Have seen the front page of apple.com?

It's perfectly acceptable form for a short, succinct advert. It isn't a large block of text. I'm not sure what you're going on about.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. Humans are social creatures, we evolved being social to help us survive against great odds.

    ...

I'll see if I can find it, but I wouldn't boast about having Asperger's, it's better to boast about being an NT (Myers-Briggs personality type)

I was joking. I don't think we need a society of of Dr. House walking around.

Me = INTJ, if you were curious. :P

    3D is so 2010-ish.

    Holograms people... we want holograms.

Beyond 3D and holograms, I want an iPad that replaces Facetime with a real Transporter Room app. I want to be able to beam friends and relatives to my current location and time continuum.

Apple, stay ahead of the game.

I thought he was gonna share a specific experience or incident that got him fed up

Instead he's just vehemently opposed to the model, which means he should have never started coding in the first place. When you code a release up to 3.0 and then quit on basic principle, that's retarded

It probably has to do with the three20 project incident a couple of days ago. Basically some devs had their apps rejected because they were using three20 which had some private API calls.

No, later CD builds were relieved of the whine. That wasn't solved by a C2D chip, but better quality control.

Really. That is good to hear. Glad to see Apple figured out what the problem was and took care of it.

This is getting closer to an iPal - a handheld computer that does it all. That is my next purchase. It needs to be small but with a full screen and real-world-rugged. Will Apple release it this year?

This is morally and most likely legally wrong for Wal-Mart to do. Not that either of those are new to the folks running Wal-Mart.

I seem to remember a different sentiment on these forums when it was announced Wal-Mart would start selling iPods. People who said Wal-Mart was a bad corporate citizen were called naive, were told that that's how business is done, long live the invisible hand of capitalism, etc.

Now that Wal-Mart is trying to squash Apple's move into the movie arena, I see some people have come around. And with the sort of success iTunes seems to be having with movies so far, there just may be some studios who stand up to Wal-Mart too for a change. So in a way, I thank Wal-Mart for pulling this idiotic stunt to open up people's eyes. :)

This is the most simplistic statement.

A crap camera will never take a great picture, despite the hands it is in.

No offense but its obvious you know nothing about photography. Your statement is 100% incorrect.

I guess these are bad pictures then if good pictures can't be taken without top of the line equipment:

One wonders how Japan, the third largest economy in the world, does it?

They are just as tech-toy advanced as the United States... if not more.

And they manage to do it while spending only 0.9% (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures) of their GDP on defense ($46 billion) while the United States spends 4.3% (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures) ($663 billion).

How is China growing into the next economic superpower while only spending 2% (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures) of its GDP ($99 billion) on defense?

See, I think you have it backwards. You see our massive defense spending as propping up our economy. I think a closer examination will reveal that it is instead is instead, dragging us down.
Propping up, dragging down, it amounts to the same thing. In a way, I would suggest that Japan and China fall under the umbrella of US defense, since their products rely significantly on US markets. It is a kind of symbiosis. US defense will, if need be, protect foreign interests if important markets are threatened. The global economy is a pretty big and complicated picture.

If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release.

And who, exactly, are you talking about?

All I've seen are a few anonymous comments on this message board. Who are those people? Are they pros? I don't know who they are. Do you know?

Funny how you've developed a whole theory about "professionals" and yet you haven't proved in any way that any pros said what you claimed they said. I've read that the crowd at the show seemed to really love it.

So if you're going to come here and claim you've heard people saying the exact opposite of the news report then you really need to explain where you heard that and who was saying it.

I'm not necessarily referring to the responses on this thread, just some of the general backlash that Final Cut Pro X has received for looking like iMovie by people claiming to be industry professionals. I use the term loosely because I'm makIng a point about the meaninglessness of the word "professional". Why am I getting such bitter responses from people who seem to agree with my point?

I have 3 USB 1 ports and 2 FireWire ports. Does that mean if I buy a new 8Gb Nano, it won't work with my system? :(

All iMac G5s have USB 2.0 - you're either mistaken or quoting your machine incorrectly.

Keep in mind Toys R' Us does not support the US Constitution, specifically the 2nd Amendment. While they are a private business and can say what is or isn't permitted in their stores, I will not patronize businesses that infringe upon my rights as an American citizen.
