It's about time Wal-Mart gets burned to the ground.
I hope that this pisses off the studios royally. The sooner we shift to a purely electronic method of distribution, the better everything is.
There's no way that Wal-Mart would stop selling DVDs, and what else could they possibly do? Raise prices?
It's retarded. Wal-Mart won't lose any substantial sum of money if iTunes carries movies from all the major houses. But they will lose tons if they stop selling DVDs.
This just seems really foolish to me. They're not in a good position (for once). Granted, it could hurt the studios for a while, but people want to see movies more than they want to shop at Wal-Mart, methinks.

I wouldn't want a stranger poking around my song playlists whether they are jacked in or Zuned in. Other than the dubious wireless song sharing capability of the Zune, I don't think it competes at all feature-wise against the iPod and won't pose a threat to Apple's delicious dominance.

No, You can run OS X on non Macs but not legally under the EULA because currently Apple only sells OS X as an OEM with it's hardware or as an upgrade for systems that already come with a Mac OS.
So what. You can buy an upgrade package of winXP and install it on any computer well over 5 years old that had win98 installed on it. You didn't need to install WinMe, Win NT, or Win2000.
You are legally only allowed to install the stand alone OS X 10.4 software on systems that originally came with the Mac OS. It's an upgrade.

The C2D MBP was relieved of the whine and some other issues one they moved to C2D. If the MacBook becomes free of these issues as well with this move than the small update is still great news.

it was a rhetorical question is response to MacFly123 and Knightlie's arguments that apple only follows open standards, which still allow them to create a media rich website using only open standards, that QuickTime is not.

i thinking of getting an ipod but i need to know your opinion of it should i stick with an mp3 player? what can an ipod do that an mp3 player can't?
You might want to take this to a new thread.
That said, an iPod is an "MP3 player", but one that has a great user interface and complete integration with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store where you can buy music, audiobooks and even videos.

Hey guys, I've created a website called pleasesteve .co.uk for everyone to be able to submit their ideas on what the next line up of apple products needs. People with more tech knowledge can also comment and clear up any reasoning for why Apple may not implement some of the suggestions too. It can cause a lot of problems when people misinterpret or don't understand it. And lots of modern believers do avoid reading the old testament, especially books of the law like Leviticus and Deuteronomy (because they can be hard to understand). "Jesus the Son of God" derives his very legitimacy through the alleged fulfilling of Old Testament prophecies. For a Christian to "avoid reading the old testament" is surely to deny his paternity.
For me personally, I enjoy reading the narratives of old testament figures like Abraham, David, Joshua, Moses, Solomon, Isaac, etc. etc. These people were far from perfect and much of what we learn from them is in taking note of the mistakes they made. It gives me comfort knowing that if God can use them then he can possibly use me despite the numerous mistakes I make.However, these people were Canaanites, worshipping the same pantheon as the other Canaanites, naming their sons after El and other Canaanite gods. The concept of monotheism was a late, exilic development. Throughout their pre-exilic history, the Hebrews in Israel and Judah were polytheistic. It says so on numerous occasions in the Old Terstament. The elohim of Genesis were "the gods": "let us make man in our own image". What can that possibly mean in a monotheistic cosmos?
As for the "Secular Bible", I think it's a misnomer to call it a "bible": surely it is a compendium of philosophy, a kind of eclectic ethical anthology, more akin to a shopping list than a rulebook for Life.

just wait at the local starbucks. All the "people" who got in to the conference will eventually end up there begging for free wifi, a venti mocha and a pastry while trying to blog that Steve Jobs actually looked their way. "It was magical.. I pee'd a little!". :rolleyes:
It's just a keynote... hype about features that will already be leaked in the press and of course they'll have to unjustly bash the competition for no apparent reason, slipping in a little lie or two in the process. It's just a standard press event really. I'd rather go to something like NAB. Oh yeah.. probably no Apple sightings there as they still can't complete a new FCS. Once again Avid, Foundry and Adobe will forge ahead with their products while Apple is too busy thinking of how to add real multitasking to their iOS or how to allow users to buy more samples for GarageBand via itunes.

SIRI rocks! The BEST, by far, voice recognition right out of the gate I have EVER tried-it is quite amazing and I wish Apple all the best integrating it-great choice! Put it into a remote control to provide functions- "turn to sports channel" " record this movie" "next, previous" etc.............

But it looks like we may need to convert videos before we can place them onto our ipod from iTunes.
I just encoded a video using Quicktime Version 7.1.5 (available now via software update). Even after doing that, it appears that I have the option to encode it for iPod :confused: .

1) If no major case changes, a quiet introduction like today's iMac
2) If a major case and feature change, a "One More Thing"� next week...
3) Perhaps the reason for the delay in introduction is the Meroms are still constrained and Apple wanted them in the iMacs first.
Either way, I'm anticipating them to be introduced soon and I'll be in line as quickly as possible along with many here to buy one.

Well my MB was bought the day they were announced - my local Apple store didn't have them on display yet :) and mine hasn't had the shutdown issue.
